wneely
goldenboy, Zach Holt is a junior. This Giles County team has a pretty bright future. Bridgeforth Middle School had their best season ever last year (won the invitational tourney they went to). Birdman/Steve/Zach/Deron/Tryce Nelson would be a scary lineup of all scorers. I hear Tryce can ball for real.
wneely
Goldenboy...I don't think anyone in this region can hold Tyler to minimum points...if he wants to score. As for White Boy...which one, Zach or Shay, because when they are on, those two can flat stroke. I don't see this game being a bit closer than the first meeting in which Giles won by 25... krogers, Tyler scored @ will against the best team in the state, (Bradley Central). That game at MMC, he could not be stopped, dribble the length of the court and then dunk it. Easiest two points ever against Bradley Central. Wow. If he plays like that against Lewis County he may have 100 points.
anonymousballer
On an earlier post there was rumor about coffey having pneumonia and shay hurting his back is there any updates about this or are they just lies? The region is very weak this year,it is very possible that the final of the region could be the same game as this game on tuesday. The teams Lewis played since giles have been summertown(pretty good 1a team),fairview(horrible),perry county(not great),hampshire(worst team in the state),Crockett county(know nothing about),and Obion county(know nothing about) 6-0 since giles co game.Im not sure that these game have proven anything b/c the schedule is very weak but from what i have heard the games werent very close.Im not sure lewis can overcome giles but i have every reason to believe that this will not be another blow out. goldenboy
I was referring to his comment at the Huntingdon tournament when he said "Hey Jeff lets get Crunk."
tcross
Krogers, i Have to disagree with you on the 94-95 team being the most talented group. Dont get me wrong they were a very good team but 91-92 was by far the most talented group to come through GCHS. And i dont think Shay is going to play this week. krogers
Tcross, who was on that team. On the 94-95 team, I remember Pipkins, Howard, Marks, Coleman, Morris, Bryant (i think).
tcross
well actually it was 90-91. Jenkins,Freeman,Reynolds,GSmith,Twilliamson(Dgarretts uncle) Bench Howard(Phowards brother) he could jump out the gym,Dangerfield6-6,MHagan(shooter),BBryan(10th) grader at the time. They lost in substate to Lipscomb
MrHonesty
The Panthers of Lewis County are off to their best start since 1997, posting a 11-2 record into the new year. The 'Cats of Giles County are a mediocre 10-5 and looking tired and bored on the court. I believe it will be an interesting game tomorrow night in Lewis County. Depending on the play of Sparkman and Curfman, Lewis County may get the upset and land first place in the district at the end of the season. WNEELY: If Smith scored at will against Bradley Central, why'd Giles lose? If a man can score at will wouldn't he score everytime down the floor and thus win the game for his team? You don't make any sense. The 'Cats themselves won't score 100 points against Lewis County, much less the highly overrated Smith.
krogers
MrHonesty...honestly, I believe that you know nothing about basketball. The CATZ are a mediocre 10-5...LOL...LOL. Two of those losses came to Bradley...#1 team in the state, as of now. They had two losses to very good teams in the Huntsville Tournament. Who has Lewis County played...teams like Fairview...LOL. Take out those two tournaments and Giles County has one loss. You crack me up. As I have said in an earlier post, GC by 25-30...and Shay probably won't even play. Also, Tyler did have his way with Bradley...31 pts. He scored when he wanted to...Bradley knew that, that is why they focused on shutting the rest of the team down...that is what good teams do. What would Lewis County have done...gotten beat by 70+...LOL LOL...LOL...LOL...I think Lewis County has played 3 teams with a winning record...they should be atop the polls in strength of schedule...LOL Edited January 5, 2004 by krogers
