Well that explains it, Tiffany and the UT coaching staff didn't agree on much of anything while she was at UT, I can't imagine that they would agree on the "assist" or maybe that was a problem for them. Is she still doing the Hooptown thing? I know Tiffany after all, but I wasn't thinking that far back.

IAMOZ: I suppose the rule is written to give latitude to coaches, I don't know. But it would seem that by the rule, an assist would be scored on every possesion. Let me tell you, given my motivation, I would like to score as many assists for my players as possible. But just like golf, I play by the rules.

The rule was written to give players credit for making quality passes. And as it states in the statistican's manual, assists are warranted on nearly 60% of all field goals made.

If there are any questions about the rules, all you have to do is refer to the statistician's manual. It's all there, including nice "Approved Rulings" to show how the scoring rules should be applied.

To say that if a player dribbles then an assist cannot be made is crazy. When a player comes up with a steal and passes to a guy who dribbles twice before shooting a lay-up gets an assist just as a player who penetrates the lane and dishes to a player that buries an open jumper.

The general rule is if the pass set up the basket then an assist is given, but assists are not given for a player that hits free throws. It seems like maybe they should, but they don't.

Two scorekeepers, however, may not view a play the same way. Just like in baseball when one book gives someone a hit and the other book scores it an error. It comes down to a judgement call sometimes.

Yes, Tiffany is still giving lesson at Hooptown and cosched the 15U Team Pride Team that went to National this past year. She also has a rehab clinic.

I know her and Pat were at each other during Tiffany's LV time, but to see them together today, they seem to be close friends.

Well Memphis...the senario I was asking the riddle about is in the course of a game, not during a free throw.

The teams are actively playing on the court, a player makes a shot, he is fouled in the process of the shot, the official blows the whistle and calls the foul against the defender, the ball went into the basket, the basket is awarded and the score goes on the scoreboard, but the shooter is not allowed to shoot the additional free throw. Can you solve this riddle. This can happen legally in the course of a game.
