How was the Big East clinic?

The Big East Clininc was held this past weekend in Pigeon Forge? How was the turnout? good speakers?

The weather kept a lot of the coaches and a couple of the speakers from making it this year so it was not as good as it was in the past.

I had a good time, missed some early speakers b/c of weather. The Wofford coach and his anti-scoop, high wall concept was very interesting.

What is a high wall anti-scoop?

Highwall: Backside lineman with a head up or outside shade jump jabs up the field and turn shoulders perpendicular to LOS. He maintains this position for 1 sec or less and then works up the field to get the cutback LB.

 

Highwall: Jump-Stab-Go

 

They do scoop an inside shade or some stack LB situations. I think the theory is that if the 3 tech doesn't engage you in that one second period, then he ain't going to make the play. You wouldn't use this on a zone play b/c of the cutback potential.

 

I used this Technique as a player on the backside of Ice and power plays ( I was an OT). It wasn't taught to the guards as an acceptable tech. The play would have to be quick or outside for a guard to use it.
