TrophyHunter
Greenback wrestled the best match in the school's history against Farragut in the Distict 4 showdown. Hats off to Farragut and Karns who beat Greenback 42-34 with two great overtime matches which Karns won. I hope this is a preview of the type of wrestling that the regions and state hold in store. Goodluck to Karns in the regions.
BayouBear
Congrats Greenback. That is certainly a big win. Do you have match results?
voleagle
not to put down greenback's victory, but they did get forfeits at 103, 112, 119, and another weight class. they did get outwrestled. I was at the match, and this is the only thing that is disturbing. i saw their coaches tell there kids to run. run away from their opponent. do what you have to do to not get pinned. get tech falled but not pinned. this is not how we should do things. a coach should make their wrestler feel invincible, that they could beat anybody in the state. even if you know they can't.. what will happen is that this team will send very few to state tournament, because they know how to barely get by. congrats on your win greenback, but unfortunately your ride ends at region. TrophyHunter
Greenback lost at 112 to Abercrombie. They only took two forfeits. Getting teched instead of pinned in a dual is pretty smart actually. The coaches new what they were doing. When you're an eighth grader wrestling a three time state qualifier it's really smart. Actually, Greenback won more actual matches than Farragut.
jcu
There is nothing wrong with teaching a kid to stall out in a dual meet. Each wreslter that got a tech saved their team a point. I agree that a coach should teach their kids to beat everyone, but there are times that the kids just need to go as long as they can without getting pinned. I don't think they should run, but if they do, isn't that the refs job to call the stall. The other school needs to teach their kids how not to be stalled out. Some wrestlers are almost impossible to go 6 minutes with because they are rough enough to force the kids to open up and get decked.

UCfan1234
what is the criteria for the three way tie and who wins it. Also has all three teams wrestled everyone in the district, cause I seen on another post where greenback hasn't wrestled everyone, if so who is left to wrestle. duggerd1
The Greenback Wrestling Team and their coaches are to be congratulated for two outstanding meets. The object of a dual meet is to win the meet. That means you have a full line up and you move your wrestlers to the best advantage. And each match must wrestled to either get the most points possible or to give up the least points possible. Many times this means that some wrestlers will have to make a sacrifice for the good of the team. Greenback did an excellent job of having everyone in the right place at the right time. Congratulations also to Karns on an excellent performance.
