12U

Recommended Posts

There has been alot of talk about the 12U age group being able to take the national championship in Kingsport this year.

What's the argument? Last year, the 11U waves were State Champs, but that team broke up. Where are the girls playing this year. Is the talent being concentrated in one area?

I know that SSS had their organizational workout this past Saturday, but from reading the post from "Sidetrain" it doesn't appear that they will be loaded. I may have read it wrong, if so, I apolgize.

Are the Bulls from Knowville still together? They looked pretty tough last year. And how about the Stars/Raiders, TN Express, Team Pride, TN Elite.

Does anyone want to weigh in, or is it still to early?

Im not sure what 12u girls teams have split up or whos who but I believe everyone has forgoten about the TN Lady Rockets. They will still be a strong and improving team for any 12u girls team to contend with. As 10u this team if you remember placed 3rd in state and went on to play in the nationals.

I have seen many of the young ladies that will make up the 12U SSS team and they are definitely going to be a major threat, not only for the state championship but the national championship as well. I had a chance to see the 6'4" girl from Jackson Co. play and she is coming along very nicely. I believe Sidetrain said that she was on the Blue team (which is the second team), but I expect to her to be moving over to the Orange team soon. As for this SSS team, there is always alot of buzz about them and each year they choke in the state tournament. Maybe this year they will be able to handle the pressure because they most certainly deserve it. Hey sidetrain, which team did your daughter end up on? I remember her from last year with the SSS and the year before with the Express. She is an incredible athlete, can jump through the ceiling.

Apparently I struck a cord with some of the parents of players on the Blue SSS team. In the past, when the Sport Shop has had more then one team, usually the FIRST team is considered the Orange team and Blue the SECOND. I cannot imagine that Insell and Co. are not putting together the best team possible on one of the teams and putting everyone else on the other. The organization wants a national championship and in order for them to get that, they will need the BEST players on the top team. Now both teams, even if they are divided up evenly, will probably take 1st and 2nd in the south-substate, but I don't see one of them being able to compete with the Waves or Lady Bulls with just two above average teams. I'm sorry, but one team is going tohave to be alot better then the other one. If not, both SSS 12U teams will be spending another year at home instead of at nationals.

Hey guys, speaking of SSS, how is the Leonard girl from Red Boiling Springs doing down there so far? I'm glad Coach Brown decided to move her down there with him. I think this will be the very best thing for her as far as advancing her playing ability, which is already astounding for a 12 year old. Good luck Laken!

    • Hope the catcher on baseball team come back out and play's football . He didn't play last year if I remember but I don't remember much after that wreck anyways.. But he did play his freshman and soph years and I thought was a very good player. He's put on some size now, so I'm hoping he's thinking about playing again..
    • Pirates are young this year.  Gordy can sleep on them.
    • They’ll get it worked out eventually.Farragut is too good of a program to be down for long. As an OR fan, I can’t really say I’m too distraught about it though.
    • I didn’t even see that until you said something, but I don’t think it’s that bad. Yes, the coaches can’t get along with each other. But I don’t think they’re openly taking shots at each other right in front of the parents. If they are, that’s pitiful though, that’s really pitiful. I sure hope they’re not, but yeah, I’ve heard the same thing from players over at Farragut getting fed up, and I feel as though what the coaching staff has been trying to keep under the prying eyes of the parents is now out on full display.
    • and there is definitely a reason for that—more than just Catholic recruiting.
