FullcourtPress
What is the better tournament for middle schools, and why or why not?
CoachD33
It just depends on what you want. If you want to play schools of similar size from across the state the TNT is a wonderful experience for middle school kids with a state tournament type atmosphere. If you want the feel of the post-season, advancing to different levels like high school, then join the TMSAA and follow that route. Currently the advancement stops within your grand division with no state championship but it's quite an honor to win your section and be recognized at the TSSAA state tournament. hoops24
TNT is a great tournament for schools that does not belong to TMSAA.
jabstep
The teams that enter the TNT are teams that are not members of TMSAA. Those teams feel like either they can't compete at that level or they do not want rules that would give them the same guidelines as everyone else. Grades, transfer rules, age limits, practice and game limits, etc. The coaches that are not in TMSAA will say they don't have the number of students to compete. what I say is you don't work hard enough. They don't want to put in the time to teach the kids what it takes to compete at a higher level. that is why the high school programs suffer most the time. Those kids don't face the better atheletes and see different looks; press, man, match ups, etc. The TNT is a good tournament, but don't say you won the State. hoops24
Teams that are not members of TMSAA can play with that level. East TN Teams can, with any level.

Look at how schools like Livingston Academy girls have suffered in the past because their feeder schools haven't followed any rules, worked hard, or been a member of TMSAA. Don't blame schools for being members if they so choose, and don't blame schools if they choose not to pay TMSAA fees.

Most of these teams are from tradition rich schools that are competitive year after year. They are paired up according to the eigth grade enrollment. As for not facing the athletes, come and watch the Class 1 and 2 A teams such as Rickman, Philadelphia, Pleasant Shade, Allons, Red Boiling Springs and others. They will press, play man-D and match-up with the best of the rest.
