Hey everybody it's a new baseball season today!

What do you guys know about the big Chatt teams like:

Ooltewah

Red Bank

Soddy-Daisy

Central

There aren't any good previews on TBCA from these teams, so any and all info about players and outlook would be appreciated.

But this is a topic for all the Chattanooga teams so feel free to talk about the others.

Red Bank looks good this up coming season. With few senior ( Knowles, Crane, Giesel) their experience does help out plenty. Knowles will be our ace. While Crane will be in on the rotation, and Giesel can play about anywhere. Juniors to watch for that have had the varsity experience and have been in on playing situations are Cofer who will play short-stop, Fabry in Centerfield, and Carroll who will be in left field and will also be in the pitching rotation. (Notables that will also help out Miller, Park, Vick, Geren, Henry, Allen)

Ooltewah should be pretty good, but will be looking for some senior leadership. Holden Smith will probably be the starting pitcher although last year he pitched beter in relief, which may change depending on whether juniors like Ryan Jones, Brad Loy, and Justin Higdon and sophmores like Kyler Burke, John Howard, and Blake McDade.

Early in the season, the Owls will have to rely on defense and the bats they had from last year. They have one addition to the lineup in Chris Mitchell, a middle infielder that just moved here from the Maryville area. He is a good ball player.

I hope the Owls have a great season and good luck to my boys. Next year could be one of their best ever though. But u never know what will happen between now and then.

    • A lot of people don’t realize how valuable JMO was. QB, safety, punter and holder on pat’s. Kid did it all. I fully believe if he was healthy Dburg would have made it to the ship last year.
    • If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout
    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
