Best Team to Ever Play in Tennessee

Lookout Valley in 1977 (25-1) state champions. Larry Knight pitched and still holds almost all of the tennessee state records. He also played for the Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox.

I agree w/ Jackie Reavis being one of the best coaches in TN he is awesome. Farragut is definately close to the top and also germantown's 2001 team they were good.

I would have to agree with Coach Clark that it would be the 1985 Germantown team. They finsished the year #1 in the Nation and won the best high school tournament in the country out in California. A truly great team.

i'm gonna have to give top honors to Heltons Central team that went 31-0 with trammell. if you give them the bats we have these days and all of the new equipment they would be that much better.

I couldn't agree more. That year they were never tested until the state championship game against MBA. That game alone had 11 division 1 players in it. Don't forget that MBA had a great team that year as well. Steven Bess, the high school pitcher of the year that season (12-0 0.25 ERA), was slated to throw the next day if MBA had beaten them that night. MBA lost that game 6-5 and left the bases loaded in the last inning. The public and private split really hurt the progression of that rivalry because during that stretch those two teams met quite often. That 1995 MBA team had a record of 36-2, both losses coming in the state tournament. Bess, Michael Frey, Franklin Jarman, and Dave Sifford all made all-state that year with Frey and Bess making Mizuno All- Americans. Germantown had three make the Mizuno team as well. That match-up was tremendous.

The 1993 MBA state championship team was pretty good too. R.A. Dickey was the man that year.

The 1985 Unicoi County team was 41-1 and ranked #4 in the nation. That team still holds quite a few of the state records and a handful of national records. I'll take germantown, Farragut and this team as the best 3 but in no particular order.

I saw several of the teams mentioned (Oakland, Germantown, Christian Brothers) in their state title years. I'd still give the honor to 2003 Farragut team.

franklin county state champs. yes it was 1968 . miss typed . they were a great team with the emphasis on team. many good stories from that year.

I would have to say the best teams ever were Christian Brother's 1997 state championship team (the last year before they split up into d-I and d-II) the 2000 CBHS team that won states and went 41-5, and also the Germantown team of 95'.
