C Love
just wondering how jefferson county is going to do in track this year. I know they usually have a couple of individuals that do really well. and how is scooter houston running this year?
Big Daddy
They were according to the Citizen Tribune going to be at Cherokee last night to run against M- East, M-West, Cherokee, and Cocke but I don't think they showed.
surfaced
They did not show up at our meet. The distance will not be as strong due to the loss of Zach Moss to Karns. This puts Sidney Repp the top distance runner, and he will probably run the 3200, 1600, and 800. I haven't heard anything about Scooter this year. He is usually the back bone of the team with domination in the 400 and 200. And if Jeff Jennings runs a full season, their sprints should be pretty tough. Other than that, watch out for Morristown West. There just might be an end to the Conference winning streak by Jeff Co.
averagejoe
Jeff Co wasn't told about the meet being changed...that's why they didn't show
MaryvilleRebels
I dunno if they are going to be good, but they, like a lot of schools, simply beat other teams with sheer numbers. They have a good program with a lot of people willing to run and thats why they will win a lot of meets. They have some pretty good runners. Distance is usually pretty strong in numbers and competition wise and they have a few good sprinters. As far as decathalon, other than Scooter...they might be in trouble. Why did Zack fo to Karns, when I talked to him last year he didn't seem very happy at where he was.
surfaced
I'm not sure of the reason, but I know he is there training with their 800 man who is supossed to be pretty tough. Not sure if he was unhappy or not.
Red81KPsmash
The reason Zach Moss went to Karns is simple, Marty Sonnefelt. As the director of the Knoxville track club, he has recruited the best distance runners to run in the KIL. First it was West, now it will be Karns because his son will be going there in two years. By the way, who is coaching Jeff. Co. this year? I am sure ol' Coach Brimer is (I got his letter hitting me up for a donation again), but CoachSmith I heard was getting out again. With my neighbor Hutchins doing his best Scott Meadows impersonation (three schools (Jeff. McMinn, and now South-Doyle) in 2 school years), I wonder who is left. jeffersonairplane
A problem I have seen with JC track team since Coach Hutch has moved on is he allowed and encourage players from other sports to be a part of the track team. Many good athlete's could do track and other sports in the spring but are not encouraged to do so. My knowledge is mostly on the girls side but I know of at least two girls that would be competitive as any girls in the conference. In middle school these two girls was one two in the 100 during the conference meet and first and third in the 200 as eighth graders. Can not speak for one of the girls but I know one would be interested.

But Karns still won't have the upper hand in middle-distance in Knoxville. Yarrick is tough, though. That kid works his butt off over at KTC. Dasaniwolverine
Why did Zack fo to Karns, when I talked to him last year he didn't seem very happy at where he was. Zach went to karns because he said they're supposed to have a really good coach there, and that he could get more looks from D1 colleges at karns...but mainly he went b/c he felt the coaching was better at karns than here at Jeff Co.
