Unaka makes the most of upsets

With most of the top single A teams being upset before the state tournament, there were a lot of surprise teams with a LOT of losses in it...including Unaka with 13 losses. Is that a record? They deserve all the glory now since they played their best when the top teams didn't. And those 13 losses don't mean a thing...ask Gordonsville with their 2 losses and no gold ball. Look at Pickett Co. beating Unaka 80-57 and not making it out of the region...plus Gordonsville winning 27 in a row and then losing in their district and region. I think either would have cruised through this year's state tournament against this weaker field. Next year's top teams need to take a look at this and be ready for the tournaments!

Let me be one of the first to say congratulations to the Rangers. Thanks for representing Carter County and bringing a gold ball back to a small public school. Lots of people are proud of you, even in Roan Mtn. Good job!

Ok, I know I didn't personally do anything to win the championship....but, Camaro, don't you think NOW would be a good time for me to collect on that cold hotdog and warm Coke?

ie3 is nearly starving. He hungry! We could even go to the New El Matador.

Whatayathink?

Shattered three state records, Unaka was the best team in the state

highest field goal percentage ever shot at state 62.5% 60-96

hightest field goal percentage ever shot in a half 100% 10-10

Rusty Chambers Free Throws 12 -12 100% ties state record.

Yes, they lost some games early but posters on here were warned of the good team they had you no respect was given to them.

Never seen them mentioned in any poll

Never see a player mentioned for all state

Our coach is never mentioned as on the the best.

Our school is made fun of.

But it's ok. Unaka is the state Champions for Class A basketball

Unaka's coach has stated in interviews that he played a rough schedule to get his team ready for just what has happened. Those losses during the season were one of the reasons for what hey did. It don't mean much, coming from a Lander fan, but I am proud of thes Carter County kids. Great job Unaka players and Coaches. Edited by RBC

    • The amount of people pooing on UH is crazy. They're a noticably better team than last year when they made state and were competitive , AND they run ruled Eagleville a few weeks ago. Now I understand Eagleville was missing a few guys, but they still. They. Run. Ruled. Eagleville. 1st single A team to run rule Eagleville since when? Pre 2017??
    • If that Yellow Paint is all gone I'll flat bet it didn't wash off there. I bet that took some scrubbing to remove that if it is gone. Lacrosse is one of those northern sports all these misplaced Yankee's that are posion to the community brought in by  (Blount Partnership, ( The Devil) with them so somebody allowed them to paint their markings on the field that cost more than the twenty top people on payroll at Maryville make a year. All this to please the 1% Club and the 25 people that would come to see it. All in the name of WOKE!!!!!!
    • They will probably, struggle
    • Dyersburg is going to be good, really good. As mentioned, they have a lot of talent on the way and the trio of Chelby, Joya, and KayKay will only be better with a full season together under their belt. To me, playing in Murfreesboro two consecutive postseasons will only serve to make them more dangerous if/when they stand among the final eight teams this March. Experience, good or bad, always makes you better. And not only do they have experience, they know how to win there. Schedules are coming together for all of the teams and I am excited about what I am seeing on the preliminary drafts on Dyersburg’s schedule. I know I am being a tease, but it’s simply not my place to announce what another school is doing. With that said, I won’t go into specifics. However, I am excited about renewed home and away contracts for the non-district portion of the calendar. I think west Tennessee will have a lot of interest as well.
    • What does everyone have in the final 8? In no particular order. 1. Eagleville 2. Gordonsville 3. Greenback 4. Oakdale 5. South Pitt/ East Robertson-- not sure 6. Richland 7. Halls 8. Union City
