I don't know of any freshman pitchers that play varsity in Knoxville besides the few that Powell has, and none of them have really impressed me. Maybe someone knows of some but I cant think of them off the top of my head.

Ryan Holland for South Doyle is hands down the best freshmen pitcher. He has a mid 80's fastball as a freshman. He has also won a lot of bog games for South Doyle.

Three freshman pitchers made the Powell varsity this year - righthander Bryan Heath and lefties Lucas Leach and Daniel Evans.

 

Of the three, Leach showed the most potential in his varsity innings in 2004.

Koenamann (sp?) of Seymour is impressive, but Holland has pitched against better competition in 4AAA. Holland doesn't look, or carry himself, like a freshman on the mound.

A.J. Kirby of Webb hit 89 mph while pitching against Farragut in the Sportsbelle Classic and was consistantly in the mid 80's.

Speaking of Knoxville freshmen. How about Andrew Poche? I heard he was pretty good.
