Strang is indeed a national caliber runner. Its unfortunate for him that he has to share the limelight with bumbi.

And the times say that Strang is a great runner (Colorado is one h###### a running school) but Bumbi is better, and I think hes enough better to win 3 events Friday- Strang or no Strang...

hey moderator, you better watch you language- last i checked it was forbidden that one uses the H word in any context (you can pm RedBaron515 about that). but anyway theres no doubt that strang and bumbi are just ridiculously good runners. it is possible that one of them might triple, but hypothetically would either of them triple if TN still did things the old way, with the 3200 late in the meet right close to the 800?

yes, but there is a "bumbi" and he will tripple, sorry strang im sure youre really good but you cant beat "bumbi"

Would you like to repeat that? Don't get me wrong, I think Bumbi is truly a great, great runner, the best distance runner in the state, BUT Strang is a mighty fine runner too. Call it woman's intuition or whatever, but I really believed that Strang would get a state championship. I'm glad he did. He's worked very hard and is definitely one of the two best distance runners in the state of Tennessee. Congrats to both young men.

Congratulations to the Brentwood Academy Eagles -- Back-to-back Division II Track & Field State Champions!!!

Am I surprised?? Of course not. But am I proud anyway?? HECK YEAH!!

Great job, Eagles. Enjoy your Golden Cleats. The track program is still the most successful team at Brentwood Academy -- 12 state championships, best in state history.

Good job to Bumbi as well...as a junior, he already holds state records in both the Mile and 2-mile. Can anyone say legend???

I'm proud to be a Brentwood Academy alumnus.

I don't really follow track much, but I do follow Coacht and I was reading this. Congratulations to "Bumbi" an a great season and congrats to Strang as well. Now, now mom, let's be nice on here, I understand that you did recognize the talent of both runners, but funny how your intuition comes up now that the meet is over. I only reread this thread not any others, but I did not see you calling Strang as the winner of anything. I saw where you hoped he would win at least one. Anyway, good job to all of those who qualified for state, that is quite an accomplishment.

Yeah, WesVols - BA wins again - think how bad the margin would have been if MCCallie didnt have Bingham. I ran for MBA last year - it hurts to hear the results - but we won 4X800, that makes me proud - it seems to be every three years - BA takes over, and then MBA takes over in track - i guess ill just have to wait until Ty and Bumbi graduate

It's been a fun ride for BA the past two years, and here's hoping they don't get off at this year's bus stop. They lose some talented seniors (including Decathlon runner-up Chris Buck), but should be strong again next year since none of their key distance runners graduate.

You're right, though, Almost...I endured the same pain you're feeling during the days of David Dean and company at MBA. The cycle will undoubtedly turn back to West End...but here's hoping it's not anytime soon!

lol- surely you're not suggesting that anyone would jump on Strang's bandwagon after the race much like the way it happened when he beat Bumbi at FL regionals?

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
