Coalfield V.S Oneida

I was at the game Friday and was very impressed with Coalfield's runners, especially Hensley. They are all very fast and have excellent vision to find the right crease. However, the need to be much more focused to take it up to the next level. IE, cut down on the turnovers and work on kick coverage. Coalfield has a much better team this year and can compete for the region crown and go deep into the playoffs but everyone has to get a lot better than they are now. Start thinking your competition is Boyd Buc. and DCA and start raising your level of play to match theirs. Good luck this season!

Heck I don't think we got the shaft at Coalfield last year. We were on the goalline twice I think and their defense stepped up and we didn't dropped some passes I think. It was one of our best games in yardage, over 400 I think and they had 200 something, they just stepped it up when they had to. As CYJacket said last year, if ya don't score and ya get 400 yards you're running track lol.

Yeah, I said that. It was a good game where Coalfield came out by the skin of their teeth. There are always bad calls on both sides of the ball. Just so they are made on both sides I'll be satisfied. That one sided stuff has got to go. As for this years game, Coalfield is faster, stronger, and pretty focused. As for Oneida, they are consistent in their play, they have experience, and I am aware of only a few times when Coalfield has been able to keep a streak past two alive against them. Finally, they have been to Murfreesboro and have the hardware, I'd say you will be hungry. Look for speed vs. experience at keep positions and strap 'em on tight cause there will be some exciting football in Oneida Friday night. In the end though speed kills and Coalfield takes it to the house.

ive watched foootball for 23 years. there is no compromise for speed period. i saw both teams paly wartburg this year, and coalfield outclasses both teams. oneida just does not have what it takes to win this one. they will lose on their home field, and the game will not be close. no one will touch the jackets this year. sting'em jackets !

It will be a great Region 2-A game Friday night in Oneida. I know for a fact the Coalfield coaches and players know that the Indians will be one of, if not the, toughest games of the season. The Jackets do have a great speed, but they also have a very improved line, and a more physical team this season. Oneida returns a large portion of starters of last season's team and they are playing at home. I will hold off on any predictions right now, but I do see it being a 1 TD game or less either way.

KB is right about the Jackets knowing the importance of this game. If they were up for the Dawgs in a game that doesn't count toward their goal they should surely still be up come Friday night, after all this game is much more important. Pride is nice but the hunt is what is all about. Not only is the line more improved in skills, they are also stonger, and the scat backs are not the only one's with speed. Who do you think turns them loose? The defense is much improved and in better formations. This game will be won on who wants it most. The Jackets will have to prove to me how bad they want it by winning. Any thing less will not be acceptable.

This years Coalfield / Oneida game looks to be like a good one on paper. Coalfield's impressive offensive display against Wartburg has opened some eyes. Oneida's game against McCreary was not as close as the score indicated. Oneida's starters played like only one or two series in the second half. The first half lasted 2 hours and 30 minutes. It was ridiculous. Everytime Oneida would get going the ref's would have a timeout for water it was crazy. This game being at Oneida I believe gives Oneida an advantage. Its hard to win in Oneida. The fans help out a lot. I believe Oneida will be ready for a stiff challenge against Coalfield. I look for Oneida to rebound after a somewhat sluggish performance last week with a victory this week.

    • If y’all lose to Farragut something awful has happened.
    • Get him to Bearden ASAP! Or anywhere, Karns hs is in rough shape, probably not getting out of it anytime soon.
    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
    • No sir. I watched it specifically and it was very dirty. He cleated the boy on purpose. Apparently, it’s an issue in football as well from what several schools have said. That said, looking forward to a good game 3. ER hit it well in game 2.
    • He is the transfer. 5star spoke on him in their new qb1 series. Didn’t list em as a transfer but I knew the name
