DMoyers1, I apologize for sounding like a bad soap opera, but that is the thread. WB, a program out of control. My source is reliable and if these things are going on they need to be stopped. I agree that high school football is one of the purest, or should be, things around. But year in and year out there is always some drama going on there at Blount. Most times it revolves around fans and players. Will no one buy into the system there to try and establish some sort of consistency.

Between all four teams they've played, those teams has lost a combined two games ( Central one to a very good team and Alcoa one to a very good team ) Soddy and Ooltewah are still undeafted. So I don't think on the field things are as bad as they seem considering the schedule, so their fans need to realize that.

That is an excellent, excellent optimistic point of view. I think you are right on. There are few teams that could handle that schedule.

C'mon "Billy B" give the man a chance and support your kids in a positive manner.

Peace! :D

I didn't mean what you said, sorry. I just mean in general. County football is always in a state of turmoil and that breeds descension. It's in turmoil because of no stability. One breeds the other until you have the unltimate downward spiral.

WB has a good coach, if they'll get behind him. Not sure about Heritage. I don't know enough about him.

Just spoke with a source inside WB a few minutes ago. I was told that moving to the opposite sidelines was coach M's idea b/c he felt like some of his players didn't have their heads in the game on the sidelines and that it had nothing to do with the fans throwing things or anything of that sort. I believe that my source at least believes this to be true. I was also told that coach M had homecoming festivities moved from halftime to before the game because he didn't want his players to be distracted and that this did not sit well with a number of fans and players. I believe that my source should have accurate knowledge of the pulse of the school regarding that decision. I was further told that one of the primary complaints among players, fans and parents is the fact that they are disgruntled over the lack of playing time being given to some seniors. This may or may not be true, but my response was that in any winning program a senior has to earn his spot just like anyone else.

I'd love to hear some thoughts on these things I was told. Does anyone think the paper may have blown this out of proportion or taken some things out of context?

no problem dmoyers1. From the article that everyone is talking about in the local paper, it sounds a lot like the problem is being bred in the homes of the kids. Kids tend to repeat what they hear at home. I am sure not all the Gov faithful are down on Meadows, but there is something about one rotten apple can spoil the whole bunch. Gov fans, get rid of the hostile parents and fans, get rid of the alleged rat in the woodpile and get behind Meadows. Then hold on tight, beause the man knows how to win. It may take a while, but I think you will be pleased. Bring on the sophmores and let em have at it. Build that program and soon you will be competing. Is that a pretty accurate feeling from all the other non-WB folks here?

Hey boyz!

Whew all this talk about Meadows and John Brice makes me melt!

Have you all had an opportunity to see how cute they both are? I think I dated Meadows when he was in college. As for Brice, who cares what he writes? Everyone knows I write better articles than he does.

Why can't everyone be champions like my beloved red rebels? Rebelsman, you knew singing lyrics from the Steve Miller Band would just make me melt! You all will see me throwing something GQ's way Friday night!

I might be throwing my undergarments his way. I might throw them Meadow's way too!

If that is what is going on at WB then I am sure the GovMan and GovWoman can get it straightened out.

Who is this new rookie poster robbie? Who is his source? Sounds like he has some sour grapes going on there! If I were a bettin' woman, and lord knows I'm not...I'd say he works on the trash route with my beloved Starz!

Sorry I haven't been on here! Suzette has been recruitin' for the red and black in the New England states!

Love you boyz!

Well I've just read Brice's article and I'm shaking almost too much to write a reply. In a nutshell, Mr. Brice has edged around the facts just enought to attempt to justify writing the column, but the truth--AND I MEAN THE TRUTH--is that most of what he is written is either a complete lie or very exagerated.

I just got off the phone with the editor of the Daily Times. He has already received numerous phone calls today from other concerned William Blount fans. Conveniently, Mr. Brice is out of the office today. I intend to talk to Brice as soon as he is back in. The paper also intends to do a follow-up article and I hope--but don't actually expect--some retractions and appologies.

Folks if it's still a secret to anyone--my name is Gary Stinnett. I graduated from William Blount the first year it was opened and I've supported the football team since it's inception. I'm currently the Public Address announcer and the press box coordinator. No one has to tell me that this year is not turning out like we had hoped. But Brice's article paints a false picture that breaks my heart, because there are a lot of there who care, who love the boys and the coaches, and who are willing to wait and be patient for Coach Meadows to build the program.

To address a few specific issues: when Brice says, "family members have charged into the team's locker rooms following games" -- THIS IS NOT TRUE. A fan with a connection to a player (not family member) came into the locker room at HALF-TIME of the Soddy Daisy game and was promptly escorted off the premises and has been banned from the campus for the remainder of the year.

He says, "fans [have] hurled items from the stands onto the playing field." If that has ever happened, and I've not witnessed it, I promise you it would have only happened once. I can almost assure you that statement is blown out of proportion.

Coach Meadows was "escorted by security personnel" after the incident at halftime with Soddy, just because of what had taken place. Brice tries to make it sound like he's in some kind of great danger every time he walks to and from the field ... that's bull and that's not true.

Coach Meadows (based on what he told administration) DID NOT switch sidelines because of the "negative, unruly behavior of home fans". He switched sidelines because he felt it was a distraction for his players to be on the home side. I personally don't like the side-switch, but that's the coach's decision.

Brice misused Coach Meadows' quote, "I've never seen anything like it," by making it sound like he was referring to all the negative, false things printed in the story. Actually, I believe Coach Meadows' quote was referring to the Governors 0-4 start.

All in all, end of sermon is almost here, I'm angered, but more than that, saddened at this completly unprofessional, biased, sensational, trying to drum up readers, hatchet-job column by Mr. Brice. He should be ashamed and he owes a lot of fine William Blount folks an apology. The story is not an adequate representation of the truth at William Blount. You can trust me on that.

    • Perhaps it is within the realm of possibility that the comprehension of my discourse, both by yourself and others, may be circumscribed by the boundaries of intellectual acumen. Might one contemplate this notion from such a perspective? Allow me to clarify that my intent does not lean towards disparagement, save for instances where provocation is directed towards myself or the esteemed troupe of the Trousdale County Yellow Jackets who proudly find domicile upon the hallowed grounds of CREEKBANK. In contemplation of the candidates under discussion, it is conjectured that individuals such as Gregory, Woodmore, Vetetoe, Eden, Hackett, and Cothron may emerge as contenders. Regrettably, it is deemed improbable that Shoulders shall express interest in this pursuit. Speculation arises regarding the potential candidacy of BJ West, albeit the implications of familial ties with Lafayette introduce complexities to such a scenario. The enigma of Dr. Clint's deliberations looms large, fraught with the weight of a formidable decision yet to be made.
    • My kind sir, you seem to be lost within the time space continuum having traveled from the 16th Century or you aspire to hide your true intelligence by masking your language with that of the great playwright. You know good and well, your commentary takes your fellow comrades hours to decipher what you are really saying and most of them are likely left questioning whether you have insulted them or find them to be in your favor. I offer you some advice. In my travels through this area of the country, it is best to speak slow and with a twang and you don't annunciate  words to their fullest. Your points will be clear then!  Any names been mentioned around town as Actual Applicants to this job? Seen several post mentioning individuals, but I haven't heard of any of them except for Shoulders. Does he have ties to TC?  Have amy of the other names mentioned ever been in the HC position before?
    • They’re building something special there. They have 4 Varsity games scheduled & 5 JV. They are trying for a 5th Varsity game. Beat them now because they will be good in the future. They are building a football field there I think but the rich pricks of Farragut won’t let them get lights so they are possibly looking at property to build a stadium & field with lights
