JRC, Govman, keep the faith out there guys. You're obvioulsy worried about your program and genuine fans of the Gov's. More than anyhting, I hope Coach Meadows uses all this material to the teams advantage to make it a better game. No one benefits from a 45-0 pasting.

It would be nice to see the Gov's put up, a real sturggle and show that they are responding positively from all the adversity. That would be a real sign of progress that they can build on. thumb

GovMan: I looked in the paper this morning and didn't see a correction, retraction, or an apology from Mr. Brice.  If you are correct that the story was grossly inaccurate, and I have no reason to doubt you, then the paper has a responsibility to owe up to the error of its ways.  Do you plan on following up with them?

JRC,

Not sure how much you understand about journalism, but by hiding behind the fact that he (Brice) was writing a "column" as opposed to an "article" ... I sincerely doubt Brice will own up to anything.

I was contacted by another writer from The Daily Times yesterday afternoon and she recorded a quite lengthy conversation between the two of us. I'm not sure if the paper--in general--plans to run some type of "the other side of the story" piece or not.

I would hope that the administration at WB would be in contact with the folks at the Daily Times. All William Blount fans and community folks should call or email the Daily Times.

I remember a few years ago--when the whole counterfeit deal went on at Maryville--that George, his staff, and his players refused to speak to the Daily Times reporters for the rest of the season. I WISH Coach Meadows and his staff would follow suit.

Let me go on record one more time with something I mentioned earlier ... John Brice has a personal bias against William Blount, their administration, and their AD. He feels like they do not share info and keep him (the paper) updated in the manner in which they should concerning happenings in the athletic department. I have spoken to him personally concerning this on a prior occasion.

COMPLETE AND TOTAL GARBAGE!!! Coach Meadows should not have to put up with this. Where is his administration???? The principal needs to make some examples of people. Where is the law enforcement???? People throwing things need to be hauled off. No coach, no matter how good or how bad should have to put up with this!!! What an embarassment!!! Where is the class? What are these people thinking? Unbelieveable! Whether you like the guy or not...personally I don't know him, but escorts for the Coach???? If I was associated in anyway with this program I would be mad and embarassed. Get control people and some need to have some respect. Things like this happen when people let idiots do what they want to do. Moving the team to the other side of the field...unbelieveable. People shouldn't throw things at the opposing team, much less the home team. This is nuts. Get control!!!!

I can't say some of these things occured or not, I have not personnely been there this year. But I have seen things I did not like at most inter-county games in and around the stands. I've seen students assulted by other students, (We had them arrested) and stuff thrown along with many choise words my Lord would not approve of. People get hot during these games and if we as parents, students and fans do not keep things in prespective, someone is going to get real hurt or worse.

I don't like columans like Brice's because they serve no positive purpose. I am hopeing the game this friday night in Maryville will be a spirited one but will do my part to insure things won't get out of hand. WB will not have to guard thier locker room because the Maryville admin will help handle that along with the city police.

The kids from WB deserve respect while the are having an off season

GovMan needs to stick to being RebelMan.  He hasn't seen anything at WB because he's been at all the Maryville games!

Alice,

Not sure how serious you're being. I did choose Maryville/ Alcoa over Blount on the road at Central (I have the opportunity to do that every other year). I was at the Soddy Daisy Game, at the Alcoa game, could not do Ooltewah because of a conflict at work on Monday night.

I'll be at the rest of Gov's games this year as well. I'll be sitting on the visitor's side this week. I do consider myself a fan of Maryville's football team. I am very good friends with several of their coaching staff. The only time I cheer against Maryville happens this week (when they play WB).

And btw, if you're really worried about my allegiance. I could have had reserved seats in the Maryville section this week if I had wanted ... I turned them down to set on my teams side. Besides, if we start losing really bad, it will be alot easier to "hurl items" at the team and coaches from over there. (that's humor).

Waggle, before you completely persecute us WB people to death, read this whole thread.

I don't think we're going to have to worry about spirits getting too high this week. I'd feel safe wagering that the fans will be bored before halftime. The real concern here is that all these issues are addressed at WB, and I hope first of all that there is as little merit to the issue as Govman is saying and second that everything will be resolved and the Govs can focus on righting their ship in the second half of the season.
