Special Teams

If special team's play can win you a game, why don't more team's take time in practice to work on them?

I woould dare say that any high school team in today's game doesn't practice special teams.

i know oakland puts a very big emphasis on special teams. they have blocked either a pat or an xp in their 1st 5 games

I would say that the majority of schools do work on special teams. It just doesn't require as much time as offense and defense. Then the schools that play the teams that work hard on special teams have to work extra hard on their's that week! thumb

well with a team that is predominantly sophmores i doubt that will happen this year, but maybe in the next 2 years. scary though having as many blocked kicks as oakland has had and they only lose 4 seniors

I know last year at Huntingdon we went out like 25 mins before practice everday. I don't know why they can't kick a PAT this year it just might be that the long snapper, holder, and kicker all graduated. They had been kicking PATs since their Soph. year.

Maryville works on them daily. If they did'nt those kids would never get on the field!

Tn High's special teams have had 7 touchdowns already in the first half of the season. unbelievable..

Aren't Extra points and PAT the same thing?

I would hope that every team works on some sort of specialty teams every day. In my experience as a coach and player, special teams will win or lose you at least one game per year.
