Who will win class 1A this year and why?

I'd be looking for the teams that played the toughest schedule and not the one that played all the cupcake games to pad their records.  Last's years class A tournament was living proof.  And to think the defending state champions have never been mentioned as a contender.  We shall see!

Are you saying that Unaka has played the toughest schedule?

And who are you referring to when you speak of playing "cupcake games to pad their record"?

Grant it -- Unaka is not bad, but I'm not sure they have what it takes this year to win state. I'm not saying that they're not capable -- because anything can happen, but if I was a betting man (and I'm not) I'd say Unaka's chances of going all the way this year is not in their favor.

Again, it's not that they're bad, but only that I think there are better teams out there. But - good luck to you guys anyway.

But where's the height?????

You've got some great ball handlers in Newsom and and Skogens and a shooter in Seth and Sean....but Seth isn't gonna be able to handle many big guys down in the post by himself....I see Temple having a good year this year but I think another Banner is out of the question....

What do you think now -- JH?

Do you have a different opinion?

Just wondering about your thoughts on Temple's chances, that's all.

Ezell-Harding will make a lot of noise this year. They only lost one player from last years team and have 6'8" Joe Lackey who is one of the best players in class A. They also have talented guard Aaron Duke who can flat out shoot the ball. Josh Pitto runs the offense at the point guard and Chris Blackburn will enforce anyone who gets out of line and provides valuable leadership. And Coach Piercey and Freud are 2 great coaches.

Do these guys have a chance to make any "noise" in the days ahead?

They have a 20-6 record and seem to have done well against a couple of good teams.

Pickett Co. only beat them by 11.

CPA beat them twice -- but only by 11 and 3.

Anyone have an opinion about this team?

What do you think now, moose?

Just curious if you still feel the same way about Ezell-Harding?

Here's how they stack up on CoachT's win/loss rankings.

Team W/L Record Win Percentage

1. Temple 27-1 96.43%

2. West Carroll 25-1 96.15%

3. Westmoreland 23-1 95.83%

4. McEwen 22-2 91.67%

5. Wayne Co. 25-3 89.29%

6. Mt. Pleasant 24-3 88.89%

7. Pickett Co. 24-4 85.71%

8. Friendship Christian 21-5 80.77%

9. Middleton 22-6 78.57%

10. South Pittsburg 18-5 78.26%

Does this ranking mean anything?

Will any of these teams make it to the finals at state?

Which one is your favorites -- if any -- to win it all?

out of all these teams we have only played against pickett co. and temple. i have seen south pitt and they are not one of the ten best teams in the state. i havent seen the other 7 teams but i dont seeing any being better than temple. caleb is a great player he makes everyone around him better even if he doesnt score they always find a way to win

Oldtimeballer, I absolutely feel the same way. This team will go as Joe Lackey goes. He seems to be finally hitting his stride with a couple big games lately and this could not be better timing. I think they could do a lot of damage in the district tourney and region. If they play the way they are capable they can beat anyone. I see them in the district tourney championship game to play CPA. So we will see how it goes but I still stand by my statement and think that they will make a lot of noise.
