With their average attendance lower than needed what is gonna happen if they don't get the required 15,000 a game. Will they moved back to 1-AA and if so will they go back to the OVC or another conference. I hope they can get that average attendace up but with the way things are looking it is not gonna happen.

I know they were expecting 31,000 for Full House II and only got about 15,500 and this past weekend when Big Boi was there they only had roughly 17,000, 13,000 less than what they were expecting. I don't think we're going to meet the required 15,000 this year. I was told that if we don't get it this year we have to get it for the next 10 years in a row and if we don't one year the next we will drop back down. I don't really want to drop back down. I'm sure we could dominate down in 1-AA but I like playing against the bigger boys. Go Blue Go! :justwrestle:

honestly, i dont think this attendance mandate is gonna survive. too many mac teams would have to drop down because of this, a lot of the good ones too, just too much to risk with this, i think the ncaa is bluffing on this

I think it's a good rule... then again, ULM can handle it. Too bad, MTSU.

of course you think its a good rule. but if ULM fell on the short side on the stick i am sure you would feel the same way

Get butts in the seats and you don't have to worry about it. We do so thus I don't have to worry about it and thus I think it's a good rule. Pull your load or get out of the Sun Belt. (Sometimes, you should make friends to help you out with this...)

heres the thing: if you are gonna require x attendance over a period time for the football programs why dont you do it for basketball, baseball etc? the only purpose of this rule is to make money, plain and simple

I believe it will be hard for MTSU to stay 1A. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing them with the big boys, however, I think the program could get more recognition by being 1AA again in the OVC. With the Vandy rivalry being resumed over the next couple of seasons, it would be great to have MTSU in the OVC and then beat Vandy...that would be nice. Let MTSU build their program up in the OVC for a few years then try to be re-instated in 1A.

    • The golf preseason came to a close Friday at Indian Hills as the I-24 Invitational hosted by Rockvale was contested. Webb School won the title by 13 shots 295-308 over Rockvale. Rockvale girls won the title by five shots over Providence  Christian 155-`160 after the Lions won the 1913 Invitational at Johnson City by 10 shots over Greeneville. The course was wet and muddy in the morning but the rain finally broke and some good scores were had. The Webb School boys had Phet Phothong score a 69 while Carter  Burks shot 70 following up his 72 in Johnson City on Monday. The girls had Solia Mechling of Rockvale lead the way with a 73 in taking the title as they improved their score by 30 shots over Monday in East Tennessee as they found the homestead Indian Hills to their liking.  Rockvale and Central Magnet will head to the Battle of Hermitage on Wednesday July 31st. On Tuesday Stewarts Creek and Smyrna will do battle at Smyrna Golf Course  with an early tee time of 11 AM. The next day Oakland, Webb and Nolensville will tee off at Champions Run beginning at 9 AM. Eagleville will open on July 29th heading to Lawrenceburg and the Country Club awaiting host Lawrence County and several other teams to tee up the regular season. The season will end in October at Sevierville when state champions will be crowned.
