The booster club isnt paying anything for the new head coach.  The offer is still at $3500 and it is up to them whether or not they wanna pay for Assistant's.  So far there seems to have been a couple submissions and one from a well known coach.

Come on spitfireblitz82 spill the beans who is this well known coach? If you cant tell at least let us know is he from a close by high school. I very anxious to see who applies for this job and if the people at sequoyah are serious about getting the program on top.

Any well-known coach better check with David Staff at Sweetwater and Scott Meadows at William Blount before they leave their current job.

I dont think either of them have put in an application. I just wish they would look harder. They seem to not even care about the situation. I havent seen it advertised once except for what I am doing.

The head coach was Don Kerley and I am guessing he was fired because of his 3-4 year record which overall it was like 12-30.

Yes the school is in madisonville and the tallent pool is pretty good. They have potential if they get a good coach that gets them on the right track. You got a senior quarterback returning that has started since his sophomore year, which he led them to only there second winning season since the school was established in 95. He had 700 passing yds that year and 700 this year but the int bug hurt him this year and was injured a day b4 2 rivalry games with a dislocated shoulder and a broken throwing hand.

You also got an outstanding defense returning. Two key linebackers that led Sequoyah early. A senior that was injured during midseason and a junior. With a new coach maybe there will be more coming out to play. I mean, come on, there is 1,000 kids in the school.

You don't know your history of Sequoyah football very well. Both of these coaches use to be the head coach of the Chiefs. David was fired and Scott left after guiding the Chiefs to their best season ever.

Oh yea, don't hold your breath on either one of them applying.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
