His team may not be as good as Bradley, Ooltewah, or Temple but Cory Lusk at Boyd Buchanan has a huge upside. He's quick, excellent with the ball, a great penetrator. He's also played with or against most of the soph's mentioned in the area's summer tourneys and definitly holds his own. He's averaging 19 a game in BBS's first 3 games and he's still got the body of a 15 year old. As he grows physically and becomes stronger look out for Lusk.

I was over at the McCallie game the other night when they played Temple and I noticed a couple of good Sophomore players over there.

My boy Walt Dozier is a great player from McCallie and then you've got 2 or three guys on Temple that are pretty good - Newson, Skogen, and Smith.

I haven't seen these guys play much -- but it looked like they'll be a force to reckon with in class A for the next couple years.

BJ Sanders from Ooltewah is going to be a real asset to his team in the coming days. He has great quickness and can shoot the rock.

B.J. Sanders of Ooltewah has been inactived. For something like transfer of schools, but whatever the case, he is no playing right now, maybe someone could fill us in concerning that.....?

Sanders missed two games due to some transfer rules. It was basically due to him moving and they just had to get some paper work corrected. He missed the Cleveland game and the entire Thanksgiving Tournament but played Tuesday against McMinn.

He will be a real good player once he gets used to the pace of the game and gets the feel for being on the court. He has never played in a varsity high school baskebtall game till this year, and he has played limited in the first game and saw quite a few more minutes against McMinn. He will be a good player when he gets used to the game and the system he is under.

Peace Out

They have Casey Roach (sophmore) at 6'4 and still growin and Hayes McMillian(freshmen) at 6'5. If Roach would hit the weight room he would be a real good inside player. If McMillian could learn how to hold on to the ball and also hit the weights he would also be good.

Is Casey Roach related to a Rachel Roach that played softball for Ooltewah a while back?

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
