No, no, no, no guys....I never said drop Alcoa. You misread it. I said drop WB and Heritage. I clearly said "Alcoa isn't gonna change" as in no one wants the Alcoa game to go away. I'm in my 30's and still love that game like I am still 18.

You've made it amply clear how you don't wanna let those games go Ron. They serve no purpose though. We can talk about feel good things like ticket sales and county rivalry and county unity, but at the end of the day those two games do nothing for us. That's a fact man. I don't want you to feel like I'm calling you out....I'm not. I just don't think keeping those games is defensible.

Holy Cow!! Just wait till the county fans see this. Man am I gonna get it. B)

No offense taken rebelnation.

I like the county games because of having friends that went to Alcoa,Heritage and William Blount. I guarantee you the Heritage and William Blount supporters would be mad as heck if the Maryville game was taken away.Part of the fun is watching those schools fans go nuts when they beat Maryville or gripe and fuss when Maryville beats them. I mean I don't like Maryville losing those games but I will be happy for my Heritage and William Blount friends when it happens.

How many threads have we had on this subject?  Guess what ?  Maryville is a 4-A team, maybe will be a 5-a someday, but definitely one of the best football programs in the state at any level.  Just watch them play sometime.  I would personally like to see them move up. However, I would just like to schedule them in the regular season.  It would be an instant rivalry with huge gates for both teams.  Good luck to the Rebels and bring back the Gold Ball again to E. Tennessee.

Si Dude they don't want to play us except in a scrimmage, and that may be best.

The Maryville Admin expected to be moved up to 5A. When the numbers came out and they were able to stay in 4A, there was no decision to be made, stay in 4A. It had nothing to do with fearing anyone. It is all about time and money. With 5A there is alot of travel. That costs and reqires more time. So until the time comes they will stay in 4A. Wise choice. Some day Maryville will be 5A and other than 3 schools there won't be any change to how Maryville plays or wins.

    • Think he would be better suited to save our baseball program. We struggle to win 5 games a year but noone wants to talk about that. Could even coach from the fence across the creek should he continue in his extra curricular activities.

    • I'm going to say  1) Coalfield 2) Oz 3) Rockwood  4) Greenback
    • Mancoverage sez: This thread has been an absolute delight! Absolutely marvelous! Such eloquent and rosy prose, contained here in, is so seldom found amongst the more jocular subset of our species. The brilliant author behind such poetic use of an obviously deep and broad vernacular, reminds me of the other-worldly talents of Oscar Wilde. I humbly thank you, kind sir, for so generously sharing your elegantly loquacious gifts. The Goat sez: You better watch your back, Lord Byron, I’m sure poetry isn’t the only talent and passion that the author shares with Oscar Wilde.
