Departure of Seniors

You know I am torn over these type posts. On the one hand you want your seniors to know we are behind them and are VERY proud of what they have done for the school. But on the other hand if you don't have confident underclassmen and they read these posts you may be setting them up for a downfall because we know how mental state plays in sports.

One thing that happens when you play the same players on offense and defense is when they do leave you are killing both sides of your game for the next year. No No No I am NOT saying it is wrong. I stand behind the coaches no matter what they choose to do, it's their job not mine. I am just putting my nickles worth in.

I'm not worried about quite a few of Greenbrier's future players, my son included. I KNOW they will put forth a great battle and will not worry about what anyone thinks, that's how a confident person is. But I am worried over some of them and to them I say: YOU can do just as much damage as the other fighter, just put your heart, spirit and mind to it!

Go Greenbrier beat Kingsbury!

Brentwood loses both running backs, all the starting wide receivers, most of the offensive and half of the defensive line, half its linebackers and safety. Nineteen seniors that tied the school record for most victories by a graduating class, and the last varsity link to the state championship team of 2002. Key losses are Brian Heimerdinger, Thomas Welch, Matt Hobbs, Stephen Slowey, Kyle Skiera.

That being said, with as many injuries that the Bruins endured this season, they'll have a lot of veterans back-most importantly Bruce McCurdy. Kicking game will be the best in the Region, as will the secondary.

Good athletes in the junior class, sophs need to step up big time, freshman class is very, very good.

The Bruins have suffered huge graduation losses every year, but with the stability of the program, it will be back in the hunt for the Region Crown and a trip to the 'Boro in 2005

    • Best-of-three sectional series vs East Robertson at home starting Wednesday.  They put us out last year at this point.  Go Pirates!!
    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
