Just remember, pure strength is only one variable. If strength was everything the big Bolton heavyweight of 2-3 years ago would have won State, hands down.

I'll take a strong kid who knows leverage and how to move his opponent and use the opponent's own momentum over more strength any day.

That is true sometimes but for example look at the 145lb. state final last year Davis is a much better wrestler than Sanders but Davis could not do anything to Sanders because of his strength. Also the HWT from Bolton was sick or injured and was not able to compete at state

Bad Example:

Bond would have beat Sanders worse than Potter did earlier in the season, if he was healthy for that tournament. Instead of Bond's one point victory in OT (okay - another topic), the result could have been by 5-10 pt's over Sanders. It's amazing to me that Bond even got past the quarter finals. He was a sick puppy, but he was sufficiently strong and skilled to stay with him into two OT's until a third stalling call was made (again the scoretable failed to stop the match,,, again another topic).

A small example: In the G.P. West Tournament last year, Potter (another strong one, but highly trained on his feet) was tied with Sanders 6-6 and then, after some injury time, got two take downs to win by 4-5 pt's in the semi's. These final pt's only came after Sanders illegally body slammed Potter which sent him home with an injury default for the next match, missing/avoiding a 100% & fierce Bond in the finals.

The point here? Bond's superior skills, and strength @ 90-100%, MAY have won him MOW, but most certainly a decisive gold medal against a stronger Sanders.

    • You could trade or swap any 2-4 IMO . WC is rebuilding, PC loses the presence of 4 year stud Joshua Warren. Mcewen lacks the speed the other teams have , and also lost its top two way player from last season . HRB will look a lot different this coming season.. they return a ton of experience (though still a little on the young side as they are mostly JRs and SO ) but I liked what I saw out of them vs Mcnairy Central , I was hearing MC had 18 SRs , so that’s usually a death sentence vs small 1A schools I don’t care who they are . HRB looked to have the best player on the field , Brady can really run it .. reminds me of Ganaway but more of a WR .. the new regime will be a positive for them .
    • watch out for those Red Boiling Bulldogs
    • Never too early for football talk and good as time as any to start a new thread for this region after spring scrimmages have been completed. This region is all up for grabs after Mckenzie.. Mckenzie should run away with it and not stop until Chattanooga . My prediction  Mckenzie  Houston County  HRB Mcewen  West Carroll  Perry County
    • Agreed EastNasty. I honestly can't remember the last time metro had a big time QB recruit. I know several that played QB but weren't being recruited as a QB.
    • Don’t think they was using the current system and I personally don’t consider them Metro schools.
