I am surprised at the players who did not make the finalist Like the Christmas kid from Cascade. He was second or third in all classifications in tackels. I aslo thought the wide out from Mount Pleasant would have got nomiated, he had alot of publicity. Their was only one public school player on there as well. I was surprised.

Are you really surprised? That is one of the many reasons for the multiplier. Single A public schools have complained for years about this. How many public schools are left in the single A football playoffs? I believe that there are 5 privates and 3 publics. Let the AA schools deal with them for the next few years. You will probably see total separation then.

If you check your history you'll see that over the last couple of years most all the Mr. Football wnners have been from public schools. Of note is last year when not one of the state champion Boyd-Buchanan's players were selected. Same thing in '02 if my memory is correct. I thought that to the victor goes the spoils, but I guess that this means one of two possibe things: a) the public schools actually have superior athletes or The process is more politcal than real. Either way it is an honor for any student to be nommated. Congratulations to you all!

So what happens next year if your team doesn't win as many games as you think they should? You won't have most of the private schools to blame...so who will be your scapegoat? I have an idea..blame schools like Trousdale Co for coming back down to 1A.

Private or Public it doesn't matter, Matt Peardon deserves this award. There is not a more deserving back in all of football. If for some reason he doesn't win this award it is a crying shame.

If Matt Peardon does not get the Mr. Football award, the whole Mr. Football thing would be just a joke. Without Peardon, Boyd is no where near the same team. He is probably the best all round back to come out of high school around here in a long time.

Rumors (and only that, as far as I have heard- Matt wouldn't dare tell anything) are that Auburn, MT, UT Chattanooga, Carson-Newman, Tuscallum, T Tech and Georgia Tech have seen him play, but as to who has offered- don't know.
