I totally agree there Woody Williams, you've made excellent points about the fact that what these kids need are positive reinforcements from the family and parents that get involved. What these simple minded people don't understand is that it's just a game and there are more important things in life than whether or not this kid plays or little johny's daddy is unhappy because his boy isn't getting the minutes that he thinks he should.. If you asked the kids, it probably doesn't matter to them, they just like playing and being a part of a team.. It's the ADULTS who act like they just fell off a turnip TRUCK :)

I don't think anyone can say which way the program is going until things settle down, which seems like that may be never. If you want a team to do well, let the COACH COACH the team, instead of listening to one or two angry parents, check with the parents of the WHOLE team. Making a coaching change every two years or so, will never allow the Rebel team to be what they could be. I have seen the comments about the talent level, and I do not agree, there is talent there, and some young talent on the way, but no coach can get the program where it once was, and should be now, without time to do the job. So I think until we can settle things down at OC, as far as the constant change in coaches, we will never be able to say which way the program is going. Right now it's kinda the "one step forward, two steps back routine".

GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a sad day in basketball when a great Coach such as Mike Greer is forced to resign. What was Obion County thinking? My guess is...THEIR NOT!

I had the pleasure of being a part of one of Coach Greers’s programs while he was at Jackson State. I must tell you, this is a coach that doesn’t come around very often. Being around and involved in the game of basketball my whole life and having known Coach Greer for the last eight plus years, I can honestly say that I have never met a bigger influence or better coach, person, father, friend and/or teacher throughout my life.

Coach, you are doing a great job and keep doing things the right way! Coach John Wooden once said "Ability will get you to the top, character will keep you there." With this quote in mind, this is no doubting your coaching "ability" and you are defiantly one of the top coaches around. You teach players not only about basketball, but about life as well. And as far as character goes, Coach you are one of the classiest characters I have ever met and there is no doubt that this is only a step in the right direction for you and your family. They obviously don’t know what they want. I completely respect you for your decision to stand up for yourself and not let whining parents and idiotic school board members to degrade your character. If there is anything I can do for you and your family, I will never sell you short like Obion has!

For those of you (players, parents, teachers, school board members and fans) that were not responsible for this mishap and do understand what a class act Coach Greer is, my heart goes out to you for losing such a first-class coach.

As far as for those selfish parents and/or school board members in control of that revolving door at Obion County that are responsible for this situation, I also have another quote for you by Coach John Wooden...

"Happiness begins where selfishness ends."

I watched both games that Obion and Halls played. The first game was totally a blow out (Halls won by 40). Last night, Obion played a whole lot better. They weren't ever close, but they played better as a team. Their #1 and #32 are really good. I think they will win more games than people expect.
