1st let me say thank you to KCHS for running such a smooth tournament. 2nd, I have to say how proud I am of my wrestlers at Kingston. They did an outstanding job in most of thems 1st "big league" tournament, ever. We had 4 medalist out of 10 wrestlers that entered the tourn. Leading the way was 160 Nathan Joslin taking 2nd, 145 David Scandlyn 3rd, 119 Tim Roddy 4th, and 152 Nick Cowen 5th. This was a huge step for our program at Kingston. I know for most of you that post on here, that 8th place as a team doesn't mean much, but for a team that has struggled to gain acceptance and a little respect, an 8th place finish is HUGE! We still have a long ways to go, but my kids are starting to see that hard work does pay off in the long run.

Thanks Coach Don B. for a great tournament. We'll definetly be back next year!

I'd like to add my thanks and props to Don, Curt, David, and the crew at Catholic for another great tournament.

Knowing what it's like to always scratch and claw for some recognition and respect for my bunch, I want to say a little bit about some of the often unnoticed progams who have to be happy this weekend.

I thought Karns looked strong as an area team. Mike, Phil, and their new assistant have things moving in the right direction there. Good luck at slamfest.

Coaches Adams and Bell have some impressive kids at Kingston. They're trying to get better and it looks like it's working.

And Greeneville is back. Numbers are up in all region one programs and I hope it fosters some fierce, honorable competition (but that THE HILL always finds some way to remain the toppers).

Again, a great weekend. Good people, good kids, good wrestling.

Hope the rest of the season goes as well. I'll see you all somewhere between here and Mckenzie arena.

Kingston no wonder you are proud. Friday night I noticed your kids right away, they were all very agressive and hard to beat. I didnt know Kingston had a team untill now. It looked to me like they were well prepared.

the best match at catholic by far was the one against Pope John Paul's 215 and Milton's 215. These two beasts were just throwing each other around.(did anybody see the notre dame coach get taken out by one of them during the match)

i would have to disagree with you.. those guys were just trying to see who could tackle who.. no shooting was going on, it was just who could push who... the 112 lbs final was a good match between Baylor and Lassiter, those teams had a couple of good finals matches

    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct! It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed. The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far. I have always said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education, but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today. If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
