Cantrell was fired. Former assistant Anthony Fuller is the new head coach. Here is a link to the story.

Coach Fuller is the new head coach in Smithville. We shall see if anything changes. Unless the good old boy network changes their approach to the game, nothing new will change on Friday nights.

I think the new coach will help. I also know that there are some good young men that could help him. It will take a while, because the whole program will need an overhaul from weight training to Friday nights, but it can be done. Good luck Dekalb Co.

Does anybody know when the last time DeKalb County went to the playoffs was. I have lost track of them lately. The last time I really kept up with them was when my school (Blackman) beat them in our very first varsity football game ever in 2000.

1985 Lost to Marion County 40-0

1986 Lost to Marion County 42-21

1988 Lost to Sequatchie County 32-13

1996 Lost to Giles County 27-0

Yeah that was in 2000. That was the year that Blackman opened up. That was also our very first football game ever in the history of the school.
