swanson, I hope you're not still giving a prediction bc this game is already over and the score is posted above your post.

Anyway, great game by MLK and GB both. MLK was up 14 after a poor offensive first half by GB. GB's defense and free throw shooting kept them in the game. GB couldn't get into much of a rhythym on offense because of MLK's pressure and GB did take some shots a little too quick and should have waited a little longer to get a better shot. But with a defense like MLK's, you don't have much time to wait. About foul trouble, Johnny Lee had 3 pretty early and a couple other MLK players might have had 2 early, but GB's Jeffrey Brant got 3 even before Lee did and Lance Adams and Jacob Aldridge both got 2 pretty quick so the foul trouble was about even. Also, Kris Smith is a great player that seems to be a little overshadowed by Johnny Lee and "Doc". I think Kris is the person that hurt GB the most tonight. MLK also has a lot of good subs that play good minutes for the starters when they need a rest or get in foul trouble.

Well, thats a wrap MLK takes this one 52-41.  The Royals were hurt by early foul trouble AGAIN.  This one could have been much worse.  Greenbirers poor shooting hurt them as well.  Any more opinions on the game?

This one could have been worse.....for either team. Both teams suffered foul trouble early. Lot's of fouls called both ways due to the defensive pressure of both teams. Over 50 total fouls called. Overall the game was called consistently. Greenbrier did not shoot well and dug themselves a hole early. The game was pretty even for the last 3 quarters. This game was not pretty, but both teams played hard. Looking forward to seeing the rematch next Tuesday.

The stunt by the MLK coaching staff at the end of the game was sad for high school basketball. Evidentially the Greenbrier crowd road Doc (and his antics) pretty hard during the game. I don't know what was said, but unfortunatley that's part of any athletic event these days. Instead of being professional and going to the locker room with his team after the game, Doc rounds up all of his assistants and makes an MLK march through the Greenbrier fans in the hallway trying to exit the gym. Doc then proceeds to run his mouth (with his assitants close by) trying to stir up trouble. Using those antics on the sideline is one thing, but for a coach to try and start a racial ruckus afterwards was outright ridiculous.

I respect Doc's coaching ability but what transpired last night is why he gets the reputation he deserves. I don't expect a warm welcome for Doc next Tuesday in Greenbrier. I'm sure he will have his assistants close by.

Best of luck to the MLK players. You have a good team.

One more thing.....It is going to be real interesting during the district tournament with the limited parking and limited seating at MLK.

Coach I have no clue what you are talking about at all. You see I talk to Doc and his assistants daily and from what I heard from them it was the Greenbrier fans who started the whole thing. What is a coach supposed to do with fans telling him to sit down and shut the h*** up? Then as the crew was leaving the fans and Greenbrier coachs and fans just ha dto continue. I can even recall them saying that one of the assistants from Greenbrier approached Doc and asked who it was who antagonized him, he also stated that he would take carre of whomever it was.

Just letting you know the real stuff, Coach.

And by the way, I wonder why when posts come up about MLK and Doc, why are all you Coaches who post attacking Doc like he is the scumb of earth? I am a senior in high school and even I know what respecting someone for their accomplishments is. Jealousy must be a factor. But good luck to you and whom you coach.

Good Luck the rest of the way Bobcats and Royals...

Big Ben I just have one question......You said you were a senior in high school.....I was just curious if you were one of the guys that was in the MLK crowd on Greenbrier's half of the court coming out of halftime that was yelling and taunting our players? Were you in that crowd or no? I mean no disrespect, but I was just curious....

Ben, I have agreed with you and respect you but that last post isn't true. I'm not saying you are lying, you have just been told the wrong story. First off, our coach talked to the athletic director at MLK today and the ath. dir. said Doc had told him the GB fans were cussing and shouting profanities at him. Our coach has talked to many fans and there hasn't been a single one who heard any profanities during what happened. Shut the h*** up was probably the worst thing (if it was even said). And I will PROMISE you, I know and am related to one of the GB fans that got into the argument with Doc and know for a FACT that they do not cuss. Doc also said that the cussing he heard really disturbed him because he is "such a religious man" but the last time I recall the religion I know, racial remarks weren't accepted from a religious person and some of the things that Doc and his assistants said were more racial than I figured a person at a school named after Martin Luther King Jr. himself would say. No one is innocent in this though. If the GB fans had just left it alone and ignored him when he came over to the crowd after the game, none of this would have happened. I know the exact story of what happened after the game as told from my relative who was in the argument and I can give it to you if you would like for me to. Now, remember, none of us players and coaches are responsible for what happens next Tuesday when MLK travels to GB, but I hope the GB fans will be a little more respectful than the MLK fans and coaches were.

No bcats that wasn't me. I have a little more respect for players than that. However, I do know whom it was. I have gotten onto people in the past about certain things that are yelled at games. I mean cheering for your own team and taunting the opposing fans with things like scoreboard and etc. are fine, however, when it gets personal I draw the line. Just to let you know I was in the black coat on the first row and the fellow behind me on up in the stands was your man.

I hopefully will be able to attend the Greenbrier game at Greenbrier. I just hope that both teams and coaches alike can show a little more respect for each other.

Woah there man, the MLK fans were in no part associated with this. Let's be easy now, both sides were at fault as you said before.... I think that Doc needs to stand his ground as a coach, but for GB fans at the game I think they could have let the man coach instead of telling him to shut up and sit down... I believe that is what started it all. So, I definatley hope BOTH SIDES can keep their heads when you visit you.

When I said I hope GB fans show more respect than MLK fans did, I meant mainly at halftime when the guys sitting above you were taunting and yelling at the GB players. I guess GB fans were a little disrespectful towards MLK fans too, but thats part of basketball, but they weren't disrespectful towards MLK players. I probably should have said "Hopefully BOTH teams fans will act better and show more respect next time than BOTH did last night."

About what happened with the MLK coaches and the GB fans, the reason they told him to sit down was because he looked into the GB crowd during the game more than he did the court and at one point he started talking to the GB fans and telling them "this is my gym" and was talking to GB fans as much as they were talking to him. Also, what Doc could have done if he was so "distracted" by the GB fans was to have someone sit them down or escort them out of the gym(which I don't think was necessary) instead of talking back. We all know Doc and what he wants is attention so when the GB fans were talking to him and he was talking back, he did exactly what he wanted, got attention and argued to get more attention. Plus, it goes both ways, he could have ignored the GB fans just like the fans could have ignored him.

After the game, the GB fans were a standing around waiting for the team to come out of the locker room. Doc either never went to the locker room or just made it a quick talk before he came back out to the gym. When he was out there with his assistants, they were looking over at the GB fans so one of the fans who was already tired of him looking at them all throughout the game sarcastically waved to Doc. Then Doc went over towards the crowd bringing along a few assistants with him. As he was close enough for the GB fans to hear, he started making comments about how "this is my gym and my team and they shouldn't be intimidatin' me like this" and "they aint got the right to come in here and intimidate me in my gym" so a GB fan said he has no right to say we are intimidating him when he is the king of intimidation with all of his antics throughout the game. Then as Doc kept talking about his gym an assis. principle of GB came over and told the GB fans to go ahead and go outside. As the fans were going out to the hallway, Doc was following behind saying "you don't need to come in here intimidatin' me" and "this is the hood, and this aint the '40s and '50s, you're in the hood now." I'm not saying that there wasn't more said by GB fans, but I'm pretty sure there wasn't, but I know for sure what Doc said and I think it was highly innapropriate and disrespectful for a coach to say. Fans can get out of hand at some times but coaches are supposed to be on a higher plane and be able to brush that stuff off and not respond.
