Woman, 20, dies when car overturns

A 20-year-old woman was killed in a one-car accident in Williamson County yesterday morning.

Valen Cooper was traveling east at 2970 Spanntown Road just before 7 a.m. when she lost control of her 2001 Honda Accord, which went through a fence and overturned twice before ejecting her, investigators said.

Cooper was pronounced dead at the scene, the Tennessee Highway Patrol reported. She was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said.

I met this fine young lady at Club K a couple of years back. She was trying to decide which college to attend. I was impressed with her. Very nice young lady and a tremendous loss. Our prayers are with her family.

I have played against Valen for years and I have friends that are really close with Valen, and even though I didn't know her extremely well this is very sad. My prayers are with the family and friends of Valen. Megan (Rhodes) and I were talking about her and we just remember her as an intimidating force behind the plate, and a great competitor who always had a smile on her face and was willing to do anything for her team.
