Well, GLee, I just took your advice: "Paxil er uh, Calgon take me away." But gosh, If only I could just stay awake for more than an hour-and-a-half-at-a-time.

And to think, C Y expects MEEE to drive all the way to Asheville....and BACK first thing tomorrow morning.

I think something's becoming obvious here...and yes, Storm, I must include you, whether you'll admit it or not: I think that over the past two seasons we've all become "Community" fans, as opposed to "my team" fans. And, yes, I hope all four teams make it; and I'll even go so far as to say: even if my Beloved Lady Rangers don't happen to make the trip, then by gosh, I still hope the other three make it. I also still feel that it's more than just a mere possibility.

corner and GLee, I saw Unicoi last night....and either they are bad, or Cloucland is good at making them look bad. I think they slept through the last three minutes at Cloudland; but last night, the Lady 'Landers were their equal...plus one point. Friday will be a tremendous game. And GLee, unlike you, I plan to be there to watch your team; you do remember promising to come watch the Lady Rangers, don'tchya? We'll expect to see you sometime next week.

I also feel that the "talent," or "potential" of the EHS bench is very capable, and yes, as talented as Unaka's, which is why I'm a little frustrated. There have been numerous opportunities to use them more.

And I think we talked about this at an EHS football game this fall. I felt then, that Marti and Eden were to be the biggest keys for the long-range success of the Lady Cyclones. It's very unfortunate that Marti is removed from the equation for 2005, but benches win ballgames, plain and simple.

Oh hey, and for what it's worth: Just got the rundown on the Unaka @ Cosby game: Unaka was led by the Ensors, Danielle with 14 and Renee with 10; but most significantly, Unaka had NINE players in the scoring column: Coty Townsend had five, Julie Roberson 4 (that's curious), Jessica Osborne and Tiffanie Babb with 6 points each, Sallee Taylor and Lacey Gouge with 5 each and the one and only Kelly allen with 3. Megan Johnson, where were you? And all this in an eleven point win. Depth!

First of all let me say that of the "local" girls teams, I think that Unaka clearly has the best chance to get to the Boro this year; and to also make some big time noise. Unaka is clearly among the top teams in A this year, and deserving of their 2 state ranking. Chambers has 10 kids who are used to playing in close games. Unicoi and Cloudland are longshots to get to the Boro, while Elizabethton is a darkhorse. Cloudland's road may actually be easier than EHS, assuming they can get to the regional final. EHS, even if it gets to the regional final, will likely have to face Austin East or Oliver Springs in a substate game, and both those teams play the full court game. Unicoi's strong card is that they will play the district and regional at home. We will see what that means friday against EHS. It didnt help them beat Cloudland. As for the lady cyclones depth, do not expect a sudden change in substitutions. In a close game, two or sometimes three of the starters will not come out of the game at all, absent foul trouble. The other two or three will play 25+ minutes each. With Marti injured, Eden is the only post to spell Rikki or Michaela, unless he puts a wing down there. Another post injury or foul problems there will be big trouble.

You all have good assessments, but too bad it will not be proven on the floor. I do believe that the Lady Rangers can win the state tournament. When they play their best, they can be unbeatable. They remind me of the Hanson, Johnson, and Storie combination at Cloudland that could have won the state. I think Cloudland will go to the state tournament, but they are just a step behind the other teams down the state. Next year may be their year, if more girl don't quit. The Lady Landers lost a big post this week in Whitney Houston. Depth is hanging by a thread as Banner and Lunsford are in situations where they have to play too many minutes. Some talented eighth graders are coming up next year to bring some much needed quickness to the squad, but will they play for Birchfield? Best of luck. Krich, could you pass me some of them paxils? The xanax's wear off too fast. thumb

"I have to disagree, they both have a lot of floor time and heart that can't be taught. It must be earned. And the biggest reason to disagree is they lose one Heck of a coach, COACHH who has been with these girls since TAD. I don't mean to knock Wilson but just look at their record with Farthing on board vs without."

This is quoted by ball411.

Hasn't the Lady Rangers coach coached the same group of girls since elementary school? less 1 year, but then he had to reteach them how to play after that 8th grade year! So, again, on this one, there is no difference.

DEAD HORSE PATROL here!!!

Sportie, G, and all others, this topic has been exhausted on here and throughout the county. Please let it go.

The 04-05 Unaka Lady Rangers and Elizabethton Lady Cyclones both have very good teams and on any given night the winner probably couldn’t cover a 3-5 point spread. These girls have grown up wandering and guessing who is better and hoping to be the best in this county. This is probably best left as is for all to ponder thru their golden years.

This level of competition would do both teams well before tourney time but neither would want to lose and be distracted this time of year. Let’s all support the talent we have in Carter County and hope to see both teams March 12, 2005 in Murfreesboro. I know the tourney begins on the 9th but the GOLD BALL will be awarded on the 12th.

Good Luck Carter County thumb

PS: Bleacher good point about the coaching in middle school

To set the record straight, I was not trying to get a game up between the two teams I was just giving my opinion why Unaka should be in the #1 spot and Elizabethton in the #2 spot. There is also no heartburn with any of the girls. They are a great group of very talented basketball players and by no means am I putting any of them down. I am sure if you ask the Lady Cyclones if they wanted to play the Lady Rangers they all would say "YES" I know most of these girls and they are all athletes and love compitition and would jump at the chance. However, someone with a little more authority says no because if we beat them it will look bad. Happy Valley on the other hand is also a AA school and they play the Lady Rangers. WOW why is this? If the challenge is there and you don't take it how can you be #1. I love horses they are so pretty and useful.

Storm ~ I like the new you.

    • Dyersburg is going to be good, really good. As mentioned, they have a lot of talent on the way and the trio of Chelby, Joya, and KayKay will only be better with a full season together under their belt. To me, playing in Murfreesboro two consecutive postseasons will only serve to make them more dangerous if/when they stand among the final eight teams this March. Experience, good or bad, always makes you better. And not only do they have experience, they know how to win there. Schedules are coming together for all of the teams and I am excited about what I am seeing on the preliminary drafts on Dyersburg’s schedule. I know I am being a tease, but it’s simply not my place to announce what another school is doing. With that said, I won’t go into specifics. However, I am excited about renewed home and away contracts for the non-district portion of the calendar. I think west Tennessee will have a lot of interest as well.
    • What does everyone have in the final 8? In no particular order. 1. Eagleville 2. Gordonsville 3. Greenback 4. Oakdale 5. South Pitt/ East Robertson-- not sure 6. Richland 7. Halls 8. Union City
    • They struggled to field a team last year. I don’t see them being much better?
    • sx good two know thay didun't waint that entarr citty two see yeller/red......
    • Couldn’t agree more.. Tate is a special kinda player , but fortunately for us we get a best of 3 series. I think our pitching is better than last year when we made the trip to west tn. Should be a fun 2 or 3 games.
