We totally agree ...in that particular situation.  I suppose I inferred incorrectly that you were offering advice... for the next match?  Again, I agree if he is down 8-0 due to his weakness from botton and neutral.  Did you say Vaughn was pretty good on his feet? If not, top is where he needs to stay then... right Vol?

Look if a mistake is made during a match and you loose..then you just loose. I am  not taking anyhting away from this kids abilty  it is obvious he is a talented wrestler. But in this sport a mistake can and does cost matches. Any mental lapse can be fatal. Who will make mistakes today? We will see.

W-vol you are forgiven for your mental lapse by agreeing with me. God Bless you and good luck to your boys today.

Old wrestling adage:

Not everyone can beat you but anyone can pin you.

Have to agree with Irishdad on this one------mistakes in this sport, even a single mistake, can be fatal. You are beating the snot out of a guy, make a mistake, get caught and pinned, you lose. Credit Mayo for hanging in there, recognizing the mistake, and taking advantage of the opportunity. Its not a fluke, its part and parcel of this sport and what makes it exciting.

A wise coach taught me that you are never out of a match if you have a good cradle(far, near), solid roll from the bottom (hip/side, granby, standing, Petersen), and a takedown to the back(fireman's, head throw,Mu Chang, ect.). Pin takes it all!!

    • Yes region 1 is extremely weak but a # 5 seed out of region 2 has no business in the playoffs either.
    • They've had some great talent over the years. They usually don't whip no one but can be tough to stop on offence.
    • Could be a lot of reason from what I’ve seen so far.  The lights wouldn’t turn on at Smyrna last night and had to move games to Blackman could be a reason or maybe he is talking about how on some of the games on NFHS network the camera placement was absolutely asinine. ( had a camera set up right in front of a net and couldn’t see crap)
    • If Gordonsville can manage getting through these next 2 games without using him it will be ideal. ER was the last team to not have to pitch their #1 till the state championship i believe. Worked out well for them but they also had one of the best 1A staffs of all time that year. Only allowed one run the whole tournament and it was in the 7th inning.
    • And he’s not even their #1. Lights out performance. Gordonsville is in the drivers seat with their #1 arm available throughout the tournament.
