sometimes there is a thing called momentem you dont like the other team to feed off mansons destroying of a lesser opponent.when we beat bradley 02 we did the same thing to matt keller

Last year Soddy forfeited to gibson at Bradley and conceded the match in the duals championship final.

I started the refrence to forfeiting the Manson match, and if you go back and read my post, you will note I did not want to turn it into an argument. I was wondering the pros and cons (pros mainly) for forfeiting the match. I was not suggesting Connell made a mistake--his record speaks for itself. Just wondering what theories were out there for doing so.

This CHILL strategy reminds me of intentional walks in baseball. I hate it when it's my guy up to bat, but not the other teams slugger.

WrongO!  You never know what will happen.  I would have been insulted in HS if my coach did that to me.  The flip side is the coach is letting a kid know he dosn't think he is good enough to get on the mat and represent his team.

Again, No one is attacking the McCallie Coach.

There's no "I" in team - no "q" or "r" either for that matter!

I think what everybody may have failed to read is that the 125lber has a hurt acl and only went to be apart of the team and hoping there might be enough improvement to wrestle and there wasn't and it wasn't worth risking a knee over. Young wrestled at 130 which left McCallie with a hole or a JV wrestler. I think we all can agree that Manson wrestling a jv wrestler would yeild a pin. The odds of anything different are slim and none.

You are right the odds were very low for an upset, so don't even give him a chance....It has happened before.

meyers wrestled all year at 125 and I believe he was well enough to wrestle 3 days later at soddy.

    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
    • If y’all lose to Farragut something awful has happened.
    • Get him to Bearden ASAP! Or anywhere, Karns hs is in rough shape, probably not getting out of it anytime soon.
    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
