  mnewballer is riding the wave, just someone else's. He probably couldn't dribble a basketball, but has ok typing skills, so he makes a good CoachT jock. Some people don't know how to handle success, but good job anyway to the players. I thought Brainerd and RB would win last night, but the Owls and Trojans played to win and deserve their credit due. mnewballer, don't be a bad reflection on your school's success last night. The season is far from over.

If mnewballer is who I think he is, you don't have a clue. He was four-year letterman at OHS and one of the leading assist and steal men over the previous two years in Chattanooga/E TN. He could shoot the three; I saw him hit 7-8 against Soddy in the District tourney a couple of years ago.

So, don't jump to conclusions. He does have a point... Soddy did not beat Ooltewah the last few seasons.

I do agree that Shumate has them going in the right direction, unless the well is running dry. I have heard that may be true in football (the well running dry that is).

The well will be full next year, the class of 2006 is stacked at SDHS, but after that in football and basketball there will not be much.

Ooltewah will be empty next year... no more birds in the nest. In two years they will have lost their top ten players. The OHS guys may not have much to cheer about in basketball next year.

They will be absolutely loaded in football. Could be interesting there. But this is basketball... and basketball threads. Not much for Ooltewah to cheer about next year, so they better lay it all on the line now.

mnewballer, you must be a ref or something and failed your vision test. Do you see me listing Ooltewah in my reply about SD wins? You had better enjoy it while you can. All Shumate needs is some time. He has brought the Trojans a long way and is building a winning attitude more than anything. I admit, Ooltewah is very talented and well coached. I like pulling for other Hamilton County schools as long as the fans can be respectful and deal with success without being smart alecs.

ok enough of all this, the only point of my comment was to say that even tho they have beaten all those teams, they haven't beat ooltewah and they are on the same side of the region bracket as ooltewah, so they have a long way to go, wasn't beaing a smart alec about anything, chill buddy

Come on this is the first year soddy has even fielded a competitive team in maybe 3 years. This is definitely a rebuilding year.

actually, the teams with nida, lance and bobby were really competitive, trust me they were tough, and that was just year before last, but we still found ways to win the games against them...and i wouldn't consider this the rebuilding year for soddy, i would have considered that to be last year after losing nida lance and bobby, this is more of a rebuilding phase 2, but yeah i see what your saying

Nobody though Ooltewah was going to be good this year either after losing 4 starters, but Baker has a way to get results, so I wouldn't count them out just yet. Starting with last season, Ooltewah has been building a winning tradition that I think the players who didn't get a lot of chances to play this season will be able to carry on. If BJ Sanders is still around next season, look for him to be the main piece along with Wes Murray.

We could be surprised, last year four out of the five starters graduated and look what happened they found the players they needed and are doing really well, this year four starters are graduating, but Baker will have another dynamite team next year. They Wes Murray, B. J. Sanders, Jenson Morgan and alot of other great players coming back so don't be surprised when the same thing happens next year.

    • Best-of-three sectional series vs East Robertson at home starting Wednesday.  They put us out last year at this point.  Go Pirates!!
    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
