112 - John Michael Simpson (MBA) wins by default over Dan Forte (Ryan) ejected for flagrant misconduct (minus two team points);

The results listed above are from the state duals.  Why was the Ryan 112 allowed to wrestle at state?

The penalty is missing 2 matches Ryan scheduled 2 matches between duals and individual states. This gave them the opportunity to serve the penalty and get the wrestler eligible.

did this exceed their 20 dates? and why isn't coach Bray or Fiscus up in arms about this incident?

No, they did not exceed their 20 dates. Sometimes unexpected situations occur at the state duals/region duals. In order to protect the team, Ryan and MBA have an agreement to schedule no more than 18 dates prior to the state duals. They then schedule their remaining 2 dates as a home and away after the state duals. If anything should happen at the state duals, those are the 2 dates that their wrestler(s) sits out. Usually a varsity dual loaded with JV talent is wrestled on those days. It then gets them eligible for the state tournament. Houston and Germantown do the same thing for each other. I don't know if anyone else does this. At the state duals Josh Keller of Bradley was ejected his junior year, Mondelli of Ryan was ejected his senior year and there might have been others. These wrestlers missed the region and state because they had to sit two dates. With those insurance dates they would have been eligible for regions/state.

Some may call it cheating the system. I call it creative scheduling. One is allowed to schedule their dates however they see fit under the guidelines of TSSAA rules. They are willing to sacrifice 2 dates in the regular season to ensure that their best lineups are ready for the state/region.

the rules are the rules. No cheating by either of those schools. The real question is this in the spirit of the scheduling rules, i.e. to insure that you can basically dismiss a penalty through this creative, thought out scheme.

It the TSSAA has an issue with it, then they should address it by changing the rules to reflect that time period between the duals and the regions. Otherwise, considering it cheating would just be wrong.
