KnoxJacket86
About 4 years ago their was this huge rival game between Farragut and Franklin (back when they were pretty good) and some Farragut player scored this crazy goal from the corner of the box and it hit side netting. Well someone didn't put the netting in very well and the ball swept right through it. Well I remember the kid ran around with his hands up, celebrating while the ref was calling a goal kick. It was so funny cause the kid was just running around the feild while Franklin was getting set up for a goal kick. They had to stop the game for several minutes cause so many Farragut parents and players were flipping out while Franklin's parents and players just kept quite with a grin on their face. The best part was at half time when Jameson Riner grabbed the game ball and ran over to the goal and started throwing it through the net and then grabbing it and extending it out so that everyone could see it. Both teams were cracking up. But it was a big deal cause it was a tournament game and it was 1-1 at the time, and thats how it finished. Afterwards, the ref apologized for the call, which made things worse. But that's how games go, you don't get the calls that you always want... refs should hardly ever be blamed for a game, and I thought Farragut did a great job of not whining about it afterwards. dorman3
While playing coffe county last night we were getting ready to kick off; the reffs were hovering in the middle of the feild eye-balling our shins. One of the reffs made a comment about Osbaldo's shin guards. He said bluntly and in a non- jokin way, "those are those mexican shin guards" he continued "i reffed some of them dang mexican leagues and they dont like wearing much shinguards at all" he ended his sad joke with a chuckle and a glance at the other reffs (making sure they were laughing too). Well Osbaldo, being hispanic, took offence to the comment as did the rest of my team that heard it. I dont like reffs like that calling my games i think something should be done about it. If your curious, he's the one that carries around the small white and brown dog.
Grace Golden Eagles
Why is it that all soccer players think that the officals are against them? Sure they mess up, you do too. I have never seen a perfectly officiated game in any sport. Why don't people in the baseball/football/basketball threads have whiney threads? Jorj
I am a ref and i know from personal experience that it is impossible to call a perfect game and it really kinda ticks me off that most people blame close games on the officiating. You cant see everything. dont complain about it, cause they really do the best that they can.
Muffin_Man11
Hey, I'm the one who made this topic and today I tried refing in the local recreation league today, and now I agree how difficult to ref such a game without people getting upset. I think refing stinks now. LoL
Muffin_Man11
I take things back...we played a team the other day when the ref made the worse calls in the world. Even coach knew they were outrageous calls and during the game he got two yellow cards sadly. Anyways, I think this ref was favoring the other team, maybe...perhaps....his son was on the opposing team. Maybe that's why. We have the ref's mad actions and calls on film. The camera person will report such nonsense to TSSAA. Edited April 16, 2005 by Muffin_Man11
