Not plausable? It is completely plausable and even very possible. UTK has plenty of resources. It just takes the right coach. Niles has already shown interest in UTK. If they hired the right coach it would be possible.

And, whats with coachfl22 acting like he lives inside Coach Knight's head. I wish people would stop getting on here and saying Coach Knight is going to do this or that. You don't know!!!

There's no need to bicker about what Bob Knight will or will not do. He will not come to UT. What is at UT to attract Bob Knight? Money? He is not motivated by money. Program success? UT has next to none. Why would he leave a team which he perenially takes to the NCAA tournament to coach, at best, a grab bag of a team that has absolutely no chance of making it to the tournament next year. I would like to, later, say that I was wrong but I don't believe I will be. UT will most likely go down the same road that they went down with Peterson: hire a very successful mid-major coach, pay him a median salary, and hope for a turnaround.

Let me re-iterate what I just said. People should stop acting like they even have the foggiest idea what Bobby Knight will do. You have no idea. Nobody can get on here and say Bobby Knight is coming to UTK for this or that reason. And, nobody can get on here and say Bobby Knight is not coming to UTK for this reason and that. Until you talk directly to Bobby Knight and he tells you what he plans on doing just keep your mouth shut so as to not sound like an idiot. There are probably 10 reasons that you know absolutely nothing about that has him interested in the UTK job. As for me, I'll wait and see what Bobby Knight and the other candidates actually come out and say about their interest in the UTK job.

Well, I agree that noone can predict what Bob Knight will do. Who would have laid odds that he'd go to Texas Tech? Ever been to Lubbock? One reason he might be 'intrigued' is the challenge of resurrecting a program that historically has been the second most consistent program in the SEC (before Arkansas and USC).

A couple of other observations. Today's college coach is not likely to get 20 years at one school. 6-8 years is all UT should be looking for. This years junior class is the key. The new coach will probably run off several existing players just as Buzz did when he took over. It will be a clean slate. Tyler Smith would be the bellcow ala Vincent Yarborough whose signing with UT brought in some other players. The Vols need to close the borders around Tennessee and get their fair shair in Memphis along with MSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Memphis U.

Maybe they should get Jerry Green or Kevin O'neal back. lol.heck actually Jerry Green was pretty good with the vols and they should have never got rid of him.he got them to the tournament recruted Memphis players like Tony Harris and had a good amount of success getting other players to come as well so i think they should consider Jerry Green. It would be hard to recruit some of the state players in TN because of The Memphis Tigers but they could probaly get a couple of the lesser know players.

B) O'Neil recruited Tony Harris and Vincent Yarborough and most of the other players Jerry Green won with. Those guys recruited Slay. Green did let them play while O'Neil stressed defense and didn't give the green light to many of his players. Is UT really losing that many top notch players to Tiger High? I thought most of those kids were from the East coast. There is not one team that Memphians are loyal to for the most part. Arkansas did well over there when Nolan Richardson was going strong and the Mississippi schools get some and UK got Tony Delk. UT has gotten there share through the years. They've missed out on just as many middle Tennessee kids and Chattanooga kids too lately. Buzz lost too many top notch recruits period and the transfers haven't exactly been setting the world on fire. There has been enough talent in Tennessee alone to sustain the program if he had gotten in on them and then Lebo took 2 of the guys he was counting on this year. The Vols have to close the borders to be successful.

I personally think Savannah State could beat UT, but that's just me.

Savannah State couldn't beat any of the four teams in the AA or AAA finals. Much less UT.

I had the (mis)fortune of seeing Savannah State play twice this year. They're the only NCAA team I've ever seen in person that wouldn't be a bona fide 20-game winner in Memphis HS ball.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
