  1. Perhaps it was a ploy to draw attention to the bald referee's remaining hair and its incredible arrangement. The "bald headed ref" was correct in stopping the game when a player is on the floor and is endangering herself and others. Shame on you for singling out this official by referring to his lack of hair. I hope your children are born bald. With a Mario Bros. moustache.
  2. I must admit that I am thoroughly confused by your cryptic messages. You were referring to the losses that McMinn CENTRAL sustained: McMinn COUNTY, Cleveland, Tellico, Maryville, Heritage. I am fully aware that McMinn CENTRAL lost two players to season-ending injuries. I was under the impression that your comment was in reference to McMinn COUNTY. There are several differences between McMinn CENTRAL and McMinn COUNTY, besides spelling, injuries to key players, and coaching. I do not feel that I need to point that out. I know which school is which. Oh. Yes.
  3. What scorers did McMinn County lose to injury?
  4. Apparently, West Tennessee academics are a whole different pack of monsters as well. From the looks of it, they are leaving several children behind in Shelby County. Go study. And write. And read. And things of that nature.

  6. He chooses the ones with the cleanest shoes.
  7. Never doubt the Tucker tandem. They can turn a sow's purse into a silk ear?!?!?
  8. It would be a difficult decision between that job and the middle school AD job in Roane County. No CDL rquired there. SHHHH.
  9. Yes, I'm sure Davidson, a conference rival of Coach Schulman's, has signed many non-qualifiers and has had several players arrested. Let's be honest: dissecting and critiquing a 5-6 Vol football team unfortunately sells a sight more newspapers than Knoxville HS basketball.
  10. Kalea Latham never attended Athens Junior High School. I'm not exactly sure where she attended middle school. Wherever it was, she went straight to McMinn County High School. School choice is important in education. It should not matter where you are "zoned" (there is no such thing in high school education). If you like what a school in your county is doing, it should be the parents' right to send their child to that school. It does not matter what embittered high school athletics fans or coaches think. What should be done is what is best for the child. If you have a strong program (academic or athletic), you will attract the students. It should be about parents' choice.
  11. I am almost certain that the position of assistant coach is neither "mysterious" nor an "administrative position." Is that a quote from the University of Tennessee? Yarbrough would have started right away at Kentucky. You may (or may not) recall that Tennessee was playing at about the same level as Kentucky during Yarbrough's underclass years. I do not for a moment think that Mike Hamilton has the final say on who the coach at UT will be but I do believe that Anderson, Lutz, and one other "mysterious" figure are in the running for the head coaching position.
  12. BigPoppa20, obviously a fan of Batman and Jim Carrey, also has severe learning disabilities in basketball. Perhaps more deficient than anyone in this thread. He/she chooses to ignore or perhaps has blocked the fact that until this season, Walker Valley girls' basketball had ZERO district and region championships on its resume. They can thank McMinn Central for that situation. Riddle or no riddle., Calvin Klein.
  13. Kevin O'Neill NEVER seriously recruited Vincent Yarbrough. O'Neill was a great recruiter, probably superior to Green. But Yarbrough's high school coach probably had as much to do with Tennessee getting him as his brother going to UT did.
  14. Whoever the new Tennessee coach is will have to re-recruit Tyler Smith just as Jerry Green had to re-recruit Tony Harris. The person who earlier made the comment about Vincent Yarbrough being a Kevin O'Neill recruit was incorrect. Yarbrough, Ron Slay, and Marcus Haislip, the three best players at Tennessee since Wade Houston, were all Green recruits. The biggest concern for Tennessee should not be keeping Tyler Smith. They need to be concerned about keeping Chris Lofton, who will bolt if the right man is not hired.
  15. I believe he is a vagrant who posts on a public library computer. He found a TSSAA pass on the ground and decided to come to games to protect himself from the elements. He gains his subsistence from concession stand leftovers like stale popcorn and congealed nacho cheese. I believe that he critiques the dress and style of coaches because having a permanent address is not a requirement for being able to recognize a fashion faux pas. Denim on the bench? Please. Pleated denim no less.
  16. And what exactly would the role of "Jumpin' Jack" Harlow be at Shelbyville? They will have to invest in some courtside chairs at SHS as the coaching staff is beginning to rival the squad in terms of numbers. Perhaps Harlow will be the designated name caller.
  17. Playing in the New Orleans Bowl and the GMAC Bowl is not what I would call a top-tier accomplishment. Besides, consonants are better than vowls. They cost less on Wheel of Fortune. Graduate of University of Memphis?
  18. According to Patrick Sparks, he was born in Central City, KY.
  19. There's no need to bicker about what Bob Knight will or will not do. He will not come to UT. What is at UT to attract Bob Knight? Money? He is not motivated by money. Program success? UT has next to none. Why would he leave a team which he perenially takes to the NCAA tournament to coach, at best, a grab bag of a team that has absolutely no chance of making it to the tournament next year. I would like to, later, say that I was wrong but I don't believe I will be. UT will most likely go down the same road that they went down with Peterson: hire a very successful mid-major coach, pay him a median salary, and hope for a turnaround.
  20. That is not true. Patrick Sparks played all four years of high school basketball at Muhlenberg North High School in Kentucky. His father was his head coach.
  21. I am not exactly sure what you are wanting from an open forum on Tennessee high school athletics. Do you want a discussion on how to balance chemical equations? Or perhaps help recruiting for your obviously unsuccessful basketball programs? Or a recipe for boxed macaroni and cheese? If you rely on a amateurish board to learn about players, you lack moxy in the recruiting field. I am truly sorry that we cannot live, breathe, and eat basketballs like you Indiana/Missouri cornfed Jimmy Chitwood types. It sounds as if, with all your basketball savvy, you could come down here and be the next great roundball Rasputin. If these folks on this board want to post about the ends of games, poor officiating, suspect decision-making, and the second-guessing of coaching moves, they should be able to do it unhindered without anyone making ignorant generalizations about their basketball intelligence. Now I see why Bobby Knight left Indiana and was replaced by Mike Davis.
  22. I ahve only seen WB play once but it was not Eakins I was impressed with but Palmer. He is a legitimate shooter.
  23. I suppose that McMinn choosing to play in what amounted to a Class A/AA Christmas tournament came back to bite them in the rear.
  24. Does Farragut play zone or man-to-man? Who will guard Beau Brown? Or who will attempt to guard him?
