Who wins District 8AAA? in 2014?

Recommended Posts

I'd have to give a slight edge to Shelbyville to repeat due to Mason Cunningham returning under center. They still have to replace a lot at line and most of their wide receivers lost to graduation.

Several teams have a shot this season with the district wide open! Anxious to see how the new coach at Coffee County has his squad prepared. Will Columbia climb back to the top of this district? What about John Olive's Wildcat team?

Give me your thoughts on each team and who you see doing well this season.

Tullahoma had only its fourth losing season since 1993 with a (5-6) record.  Franklin County got hot at the end of the season and really got shafted I felt not making the playoffs.  Some of the playoff tiebreakers have got to be re-examined.   Lincoln County only had one loss in the district last year to a red hot Shelbyville team at the time.   Lots of things could happen this year and I still think Coffee County will get a signature victory over someone this year.   Probably in the second half of the season.

I believe Shelbyville is playing a scrimmage at Mount Juliet on Friday 16 May. Come on up to the Bear Den. Should be a good test for both teams. Kick-Off is scheduled for 6 PM.

Probably be at the Tullahoma intra-squad scrimmage on that date.  Please come back and report on how both teams look in the scrimmage.  Shelbyville has a lot of holes to fill.  Lost most of their wideouts with any game experience.  Be interesting to see who Cunningham chooses as his new favorite target.

Had a good visit with Head Coach John Olive yesterday.  He seem to feel that Shelbyville and Lincoln County, (both5-1 in the district last season) will be tough again this season.  He expects a lot of balance this year much like years past.   Tullahoma had some bright spots while I was watching yesterday.  We plan to have a "Spring Wrap Up" show on The Ticket soon so I'll go into more detail at that time.

    • While I appreciate being credited with multiple accounts, I have to say that is not true. Will you please report back to your people that I am not someone who provides sharp, witty banter, but rather someone who is putting the shoe on the other foot for some people that have been repeatedly bashing others here and in real life for the past few years? Everything that I have stated has been backed by factual evidence or public record, so no need to be sharp and witty.
    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
