  1. WC wins going away. Too much for a down Moore County team.
  2. I have been reading some of your posts for a while now. I am gathering that you were a good football player by some of your posts? Where did you play and when?
  3. I am going to venture out and say that Stone can win this game. Scott County is not exactly world beaters. What is the status with the Cumberland County school system? I know the commission kept the schools from starting on time, but then I had heard that the schools were back in, but also heard again that they may be shutting them back down because the budget still wasn't resolved. What is going on? And could this game possibly be postponed or forfieted if they close the schools again?
  4. Greenfield wins this matchup. Unfortunately, Gleason just doesn't have enough Greenfield. Good luck to both teams and hope the contest is injury free.
  5. White House is a very good team. They will compete for the State Championship this year in my opinion.
  6. Again, like I have stated before on a previous Upperman thread. I can't remember who it was that I actually quoted and responded to, but that doesn't matter I don't suppose. Why in every Upperman thread people are still talking about the QB and his D-1 talent? Again, you people are going to cause this kid more drama with his peers. Leave it alone and let the kid enjoy playing football during his last season as an Upperman Bee. I also viewed Navy and Northwestern prospects on Scout.com and didn't find his name anywhere among their prospects. www.scout.com
  7. Give me some scenarios as to why we would see 8th graders playing in High School varsity sports. I want to try and think about this logically. Here are some that I am thinking of now. 1. 8th grader goes to high school/jr high and he is relied upon to have enough to field a team. 2. 8th grader is a great athlete and can contribute reagardless of numbers on the roster. 3. 8th grader wants to play because there is not a program offered on the jr. high level. Anymore scenarios? So far, I have come up with this. On scenario # 1, I would see this being one of two reasons that the rule was put in place. There are extremely small schools around the state and while they may have good numbers in the major sports like football, baseball, basketball, maybe they don't have so good of numbers in tennis, and they need help from there middle school. Safety would be my only question. On scenario # 2, this is the only scenario that send a red flag to me. How many 8th graders out there can actually contribute to a team? Pretty good athlete in my opinion, or the school's team must not be to advanced. Either way, it gives the kid somewhat of advantage down the road. On scenario # 3, I especially see nothing wrong with that. Anything to help keep our kids out of trouble is good in my book. Winning is great and losing, well isn't so great, but let's remember what sports should be about in my opinion. Exercise, Learning Life's Lessons, Extra Curricular Activities, amonst other good reasons are the main things and anything else, like winning, is a bonus. Looking for more scenarios before I can voice my opinion.
  8. Speed will not be deceptive to Alcoa. They can match anyone's speed and athleticism, regardless of class.
  9. I have been reading you talk about your son and how good he is for the last several weeks. Get over it. I am beginning to wonder how your obsession on this issue is not hindering the play of the team and his teammates. I wish your son the best. The report I got on the kid was, "he is a good kid and works hard." I hate to see a kid disliked by his community and his teammates because his daddy (or whoever you claim to be) has brought so much attention to him. It is obvious that you do not care how the team does as long as he gets his name in the "TSSAA record books" and gets a nice scholarship. Wisen up sportsdaddy5, navy1, etc. Let your son enjoy his senior season with his coaches and teammates and whatever happens after that is well deserved. I want you to know that I understand the love for your son, his talent, and his accomplishments, and I know your son deserves everything he shall get. But, don't be that guy!
  10. Your crazy if you think Fulton is better than Knox Catholic. We (KC) are going to do play up to our potential this year in the playoffs, and be in the Class 3A Champs. That is a fact. Unlike the previous couple of years where we were in the top 3 all year and then fade away in the playoffs.
  11. We may have choked the last couple of years, but 2007 is our year!!!! Knox. Catholic wins the 3A state championship!!!
  12. Fulton's Hamilton and Rogan will both have huge performances. Fulton rolls over David Lipscomb 20-14
  13. Alcoa will win this game. Too much speed for Goodpasture. Extreme speed at RB, WR, QB, and DEFENSE.
  14. I am not familiar with any of the names mentioned except for Jimmy Maynard and Grant Swallowes. That is the same Grant Swallowes that played at Livingston Academy about 5 or 6 years ago that won Mr. Football? One of the teams that I support in east Tennessee, that coaching staff speaks highly of Maynard. The word is, he is a class act coach that wins football games. I hope that Livingston makes a good hire.

  18. Although I wish he don't, I think he picks ND. What do you or anyone closer to Harrison think?
  19. I think Seymour and Catholic will both be favorites.
  20. I hope they both go to UT as well. It would be nice to see these guys represent our great state. I do think Smith goes to ND, probably because he wants to experience college away from Knoxville and at the same time play at prestigious school under a very good coach in Wiess. I think Donald will commit to Tennessee as someone said earlier. Don't know why, just think that is where he lands. Donald would of course be a linebacker if he goes to UT. Smith would definitely be a safety in college, or potentially a linebacker if he beefs up some. He could also land a receiver job, but I see him playing defense.
  21. I attended this game and glad that I did. It was a good football game between two class 3A powerhouses. Catholic was very impressive and dominated the game. Could be a different story the next go around. I hope to see take 2 as well.
