OK, what's the deal here on the Clinton Head Coaching Sweepstakes? I heard a couple of weeks ago that Rodney Ellison was in and rumor had it he was even working on a non-Region schedule. I would think they need a head coach in the building by the start of school after Christmas break. Weigh in and rank the favorites: 1 2 3 4 5

Best game of the season by OR, offensive line the real stars of the game. East Hamilton offense never got started, really great effort by this OR team, given up for dead after the Bearden loss. Sevier County will be a tough out, they have proven they are a really good team the last two weeks with comeback wins over Pal and West.
-
Ill take Maryville by 14. The recruits will play better than the first time these teams met, but I still like the Rebels at home.
-
Scared I don't think so, they will be OK in Region 2, They will make the playoffs and in on talent years may be able to compete for the top spots. Maryville will always be favlored there and as long as Bearden is a recruiting juggernaut, they will too, but I think OR can play with the rest most of the time.

Where does Independence go from here?
Cactus Jack replied to Doppelganger's topic in Class 5A & Class 6A
Coach Blade did a fantastic job there. He knows football inside out, both sides of the ball, all positions, He is tough, but he wins, However, I think he is quite happy in the financial sector, -
OR will stay in the Region 2 as they are assigned, I was told a week ago they asked to go to Region 1 but it probably wasn't going to fly, I would love to see OR play in Region 1, against DB and Science Hill etc. Some good teams and good road trips. Like the Bounder, I would prefer to drive up then down to Cleveland once a year. OR has the edge in size and EH has a few more athletes, but it is a winnable game for OR if they avoid mistakes, penalties, and run the ball effectively and Fulmerize the Hurricanes, Long way down there to almost Georgia to play a the place I remember being kinda gloomy in 2013.

I'm going to go with West, they have the athletes to defend the pass and they are playing at home. Solid coaching too. SC has a had a very good season and pulled off an amazing comeback win against Powell.

TSSAA 6A Playoffs Round 1: Farragut at Dobyns-Bennett
Cactus Jack replied to TribalEmpire's topic in Class 5A & Class 6A
Nice job DB, good first round win over an improved Farragut team. Now it gets a lot tougher fast, Bearden is loaded with recruits and they have fast receivers and running backs and the quarterback is finding his way becoming more accurate on his throws. How good is the DB secondary, we are about to find out....DB has to control the ball, run the ball and play some really good defense. I will go with the recruits to win this one, but I hope DB wins, -
With OR injuries, the Cherokees have to be a slight favorite. Things like turnovers and field goals may make the difference, Whoever emerges, will have to travel, to perhaps East Hamilton.
-
I agree with that. Sevier County QB is very good, but he's going to face constant pressure from Powell's defensive line.

Rhea Co. @ Oak Ridge 1st Round 5A Playoffs
Cactus Jack replied to Rhea Co.'s topic in Class 5A & Class 6A
I think this will be a close game between two banged up teams. Not much scoring, may come down to a field goal. -
Clinton @ McMinn County - 5A First Round
Cactus Jack replied to TNHooligan's topic in Class 5A & Class 6A
Dragons ambushed the Kees last year, but I doubt it happens this time. Young Dragon team lost a lot from last seasons and the Kees will mash them 35-14 -
Congrats to DB great win. 7-2 and Regional Champs. Farragut at J Fred next week
-
Yes OR will get the loser on November 8th. Right now that Region is in a 4 way tie each with one Region loss
-
Although it looks like Science Hill may have a talent edge, and it is on Spurrier Field, the Indians are about due for a W in this great rivalry. Pound the rock!1 Control the ball, put RIck Spivey behind the microphone on the radio and good luck Indians!!
-
You are right about you can't get there from here. It seems like you could get to Kingsport faster. I hate that stretch from I-75 to CCHS...
-
The Wine and Cheese crowd has experienced a resurgence in the last few weeks, they seem to have righted the ship and will slip in the playoffs now. Question is: will the Rebels shake off the loss to their arch rivals? A win for the Fox Den gang gets them to 5-5 and a better playoff spot.
-
I now am hearing that its going to be Rodney Ellison and I might add he is a good guy and good coach,
-
Should be a good one, West can match Pal up front, but I think will give Pal the win in this one. Close 24-21

The injuries have been overwhelming, to key players and some season ending. Offensively very limited in what they can do, just one of those seasons that all the chickens came home to roost. The good news is that this is a young team, with a good crop of freshman and a very promising Robertsville team. I think the extra experience these younger players are getting is also valuable, The coaches have done a great job adapting to the shortfalls the injuries have created.

Powell by plenty, McMinn no match for Panther athletes....

Week 10 -- David Crockett at Dobyns-Bennett
Cactus Jack replied to TribalEmpire's topic in Class 5A & Class 6A
Breather for the Indians and then get ready for the Hilltoppers. So far, DB has had a decent season despite the early season gloom. -
I would go with Don Colquitt since he is already in the program and knows the players and the team.
-
I think Powell may be the best in ET, they have speed on defense and are playing pretty good football with their only loss being to a very good AC team. Sevier County is good, but I don't think they can handle Powell or West.

TSSAA Classifications for football 2025-27 cycle?
Cactus Jack replied to vfl3382's topic in Class 5A & Class 6A
Word I get is Bearden goes to Upper ET. Oak Ridge will be OK, maybe not winning the Region they are in. but making the playoffs and maybe making a playoff run like they did in 2010 in 6A, OR had its last complete team in 2005, since then there has always been a piece missing, either the lines, quarterback etc. this year it's the skill especially in the secondary. Tuition and residency requirements prevent OR from joining the recruiting sweepstakes like Bearden and Powell can. Last night the recruits were the difference for Bearden, Cats played hard the first half, but depth and speed on the outside were the difference. OR has also been hit with some key injuries too which are hard to cover against good teams.
