FYI, they probably have the same number of freshmen teams in Nashville now as they did in the 70's. The problem is that Metro Nashville Public schools made the decision not to play the private schools in freshmen football and formed their own league. The private schools have freshmen teams but have not formed a freshmen specific league to play in with a champion crowned at the end of the season. The private schools simply schedule games against whom ever they wish to play.

That sounds great about Whitthorne but they have had good teams for many years. What happens when those same kids reach high school? Do all of the Whitthorne players attend Columbia Central or do they attend schools all over the county? When was the last time that Columbia went deep into the playoffs? Just trying to figure out why Columbia Central does not have a better program if they have a great feeder school.

How does a program get to be a national power? Yes, we all know that you have to have good players but you win in high school football by getting the average players to overacheive. How would you build a national power and are any Tennessee schools ready to take that next step?

Inner city public schools (Nashville & Memphis) do not have large crowds (2500+) at the football games unless it is for a championship. However, county schools draw well and have a huge following (more than private schools) if they are playing for state championships.

Look for Franklin to hit Cordell several times even if it's a late hit. Those hit's will add up and take their toll late in the game.

This is not going to happen. Look for the Middle Tennessee teams to stay in Middle Tennessee. Why would MBA and Ensworth want to travel to Memphis every other weekend to play a game? They are trying to cut down on travel not increase travel and time away from academics.

I understand that some of the Chattanooga school charge $8.00 for a high school football game. Hey it cost $8.50 to attend a movie.

Lipscomb play's a very weak schedule. Goodpasture is the only good team that they play and they refuse to scheudle schools in a larger classification. Why don't they challange their team and play some of their neighbors ( all schools but BA are within 3-5 miles) like Hillsboro, Father Ryan, Overton, Brentwood Academy or MBA?

I have been told that any school that is a member of the Southern Association of Schools must have their booster clubs directly inside the schools. I do know that only a small % of the public schools are a member of the association.

Not all public schools have to serve every student that walks in the door. The magnet schools have academic entrance requirements (like most private schools) for students that wish to attend.

Most D2AAA teams run a spread and balanced attack. JMO, but the teams in D2AAA probably throw the ball a minium of 1/3 of the time to a maxium of throwing the ball from the shotgun 75% of the time.

Independence has been racking up victories against bad football teams. Page is 1-2, Hillwood is 0-2, and Centennial is 0-2. Let's see what happens when they play a good team before I will buy into the fact that Independence could win a region title.

The last time that I looked Father Ryan had a game scheduled with Franklin next week, so why all of the talk about MBA this early? After the Irish defeated Franklin last season I feel quite confident that Franklin will not overlook them again.
