  1. The JV game had just ended in the practice gym and Dyer County and Dyersburg's players were both entering the gym as the national anthem was being played.
  2. Dyer County over Cookeville 90-69. At this point, I don't know much about the game other than the final score and that Dejuan Taylor from DC had 21 pts. Also, everyone from DC played. Go Choctaws!
  3. I don't even understand what the point of this thread is? This is a high school team that you are talking about, they are kids! Why come one here and be so negative about a team and a coach that you have no reason to criticize? So you think that the coach is a "crybaby/whiner" as you put it, who cares? His players believe in him and he believes in them, that is really all that matters. And for the most part, all of the Dyer County fans believe in the team and the coaching staff. I have attended most every one of DC's games the past three seasons and for you to say that the coach's crying/whining rubs off on his players is ludicrous and just takes away any credibility that you may have had in my opinion. And your comment about about Dyer County being "backwoods" was totally uncalled for and untrue and has no bearing on the "basketball" that is supposedly the topic of this thread.
  4. I agree that DC's defense looked stellar last night. It should be an exciting season! Also, I was told last night that Jake Alexander broke both his tibia and fibula. I'm not sure if that is correct but that is what I was told. I hope he has a speedy recovery!
  5. DC girls won. I can't recall what the exact score was but I want to say they won by about 10 or so...
  6. Yeah, it is this weekend. I am not sure what time though.
  7. They don't play each other in the Jamboree because they are in the same district and meet during the regular season. It's been quite a while since they played each other in the Jamboree if I remember correctly.
  8. Dyer County is playing Millington I believe and Dyersburg is playing Lake County... I am not sure of anyone else. This is the same weekend it has been played for the past couple of years. I know last year it was on the 11th so it's not unusually early.
  9. They did beat them by 20+ points. I think it is good for them to see that they can be beat and can't let up or get arrogant. I know DC was up by like 12 or so at the first of the game and Manassas got hot and hit 8 straight 3's in the 3rd quarter of the scrimmage. I'm looking forward to the season, hopefully it will be a good one!
  10. Nah, I just tried to point out their strengths! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  11. Just to add a little more to the Dyer County previews already posted.... The Choctaws love to run the court and press. They hustle like no one else I've seen. As a team, they are extremely close and all get along. Sr - Justin Blake - 2 Guard - As stated before, he is a tremendous shooter. This summer he worked more on taking the ball to the rim. Sr - Dejuan Taylor - 5 man - Honestly, I feel he has been very underrated. He is a warrior and is probably the backbone of the team. He can get to the basket at any time and seems to always come through when he is needed the most. Sr - Jeremy Kimble - SF - He can leap out of the gym. Rebounding machine. Great mid-range shooter. I look forward to seeing more out of him this year. Sr - D'Angelo Parr - 3 Guard - Best defender and one of the quickest on the team. If he ever is able to get into a rhythym he can shoot the ball. Jr - C.J. Crittendon - PG - One of the best ball handlers that I have ever seen. Is great at finding people and getting them the ball. Is a great leader on and off the floor and always tries to make his teammates better. ............................................... Sr - Stephen Hurst - Knows how to get to the rim and can finish. Lock up defense. Sr - Zack Dawson - a.k.a. "JJ Reddick" Jr - Rex Pierce - He can shoot it well, great scorer. Sr - Kimm Harston - Great mid-range jumper Jr - Jake Alexander - Great size and can rebound Jr - Kurt Jackson - Great post player, will take the charge Jr - Chuck Davis - Big man, will bang with anybody Jr - Nic Mula - Transfer from New Mexico, knows the game, great passer with outstanding court vision Jr - Thomas Cooper - Leaper, can shoot, gets to basket without problems Jr - Georgio Yancy - Shoots the ball well, strong defender This year should be a great one for the Choctaws. I think they really have a chance to do something special and finished what they started last year. I look forward to seeing what the season holds for them.
  12. You know it! They will be little dissapointed when the basketball boys still don't want to play football though.
  13. No, Jeremy lived in Cape until last May or so and then moved with his family to West TN. I think you are confused with one of the football players from DC that went to LC when he was younger.
  14. I think DC will eventually move up to AAA, it's just a matter of when they are scheduled to be up for review. From what I understand, most classification periods are for 4 years. AAA is considered 998 students and above. I think DC is a little over 1000 now.
  15. If they were moving up next year wouldn't they have already been notified by TSSAA? I thought they were supposed to be notified in the fall before the reclassification. I know the TSSAA website shows Liberty moving to AAA but it doesn't have DC moving up.... just trying to figure it out.
  16. Liberty doesn't "recruit". Students do have to fill out applications to attend the school. Just because a team, whether it be Liberty or Dyer County is good, doesn't mean they recruit and it is absurd for people to start throwing those allegations out there.
  17. Just because a foul wasn't called by the officials doesn't mean it wasn't a foul.
  18. Dyer County's Justin Blake led the Choctaws with 39 points in the team's victory over the Covington Chargers. DC's bench was a key to the win due to starters CJ Crittendon, D'Angleo Parr & Jeremy Kimble getting into foul trouble in the first half. There alot of very questionable calls in the game. However, the Choctaws will play Monday night in the Regional semifinals against Jackson Northside.
  19. I don't think you have any idea of what you are talking about. Why don't you just stick to baseball?
  20. Not to take anything away from the GC win at all, but it seemed like the Trojans kind of self destructed last night. I was embarrassed for Dyersburg by the way Coach Brown acted. However, we have known he was like that for a while.
  21. There has always been a big rivalry between the two schools but it seems this year is worse than others that I can remember. In my opinion, it is more the adults & parents that keep it going rather than the kids. Yeah, the kids want their respective school to be the one on top but the adults are the ones that make it nasty.
  22. I went to the game today and that was not the DC team I have watched all year. They pulled ahead by 17 points two times only to see Advance come back both times. I think they will bounce back and maybe this loss will be a wake up call.
  23. I thought last night's game was a good one. In my opinion DC didn't look like the team I have been watching all year. They did play hard, as always, but just couldn't get the shots to fall and made alot of bad passes that resulted in turnovers. I think we still have yet to see them play to their potential. As for Justin Blake, the fact of the matter is, he & DeJuan Taylor weren't happy at Dyersburg for whatever reason and decided to come to Dyer County. Who cares why, they are both very talented, are having good seasons and we are all glad to have them at DC. And I agree that Brown was pushing off all night and got away with it.
  24. Jeremy Kimble moved over the summer before Coach McCord was even hired to coach at Dyer County. I know some of our players had already talked to him before they had a coach hired. He moved with his family and had not yet enrolled in school. When he found out that Coach McCord was coming to Dyer County he decided to enroll there.
