  1. Good post DHorse... it's always refreshing to have someone that can dish IT back! But save your money on the worcestershire sauce... I have a homemade sauce that I'VE HEARD is just delightful on the CROW. I have traditionally had a stand set up at all the visitors exits and open up shop around the end of the third quarter for your connivance. Just tell them CAP sent you. I'll have a complementary bottle reserved just for you... on the house. Thanks CAP....I'll pick it up on the way in... just in case I ...uh...er....need to give it to someone one of these days. You never know when you might have to splash the sauce to the ole black bird. Should be a great game in a great atmosphere. Is it best to pluck or boil the feathers off??? Just wonderin' in case someone should ask NOTE: I saw a large flock of the ole' Rook bird perched just off the interstate this morning....couldn't tell which way they were headed. Probably waitin' on Comp's long black train.....
  2. No disrespect, but I believe once again this year the best game/match-up will be saved for last. I expect nothing but another 07’ classic in Death Valley. Some things you can’t get from stats, records, or rankings… you just feel it. <<<< This will be the look on MANY of the Trailblazers faces as the band takes the field at halftime. Once again a Big 8 team is going to be given a REALITY CHECK in the Castle. Two good teams, but 1st and 6th best 5A teams in the State… I doubt it. But we all know that on any given Friday night… and at least we are showing up on the map. I can’t speak for Boone but the Vikings will represent N.E.T. well. I’m sticking with my 21 point spread, and I’ll raise you that Boone won’t get over 180 TOTAL offensive yards in this game. Now how’s that for confidents DarkHorse. That look on the TrailBlazers faces will be from sitting on those cold rock bleachers!!! Could be right CAP.... 180 yards may be all that is needed if the field position is in Boone's favor. Boone is not gonna astound anyone with flashy play but they are solid, if TH doesn't think so they are in for a surprise. Boone knows how good TH is and Jenkins will prepare them for it. Stubbs spent last week trying to fool everyone into thinking he is gonna throw all night. You could say it was a tune-up for the future but I know a "smokescreen" when I see it. Jenkins hasn't forgotten the running force TH brings. Special teams wins this one for either team..... I see that bet CAP and raise you one..... Boone gets at least 7 points off a blocked punt. I am gonna pick up some worchestershire sauce to go with the crow I might have to eat, so if the shoe's on the other foot I'll give you a bottle after the game.
  3. The new playoff system stinks. Just more money for the T$$AA..... You will get to see such exciting games as a 3-7 team travelling to play a team that is 10-0.... WOW, Oh man I can hardly wait for that one..... A 6A team in a predominantly 5A conference only has to be better than the other 6A opponents to reach the playoffs.....and so on for 4A/3A and 2A/1A. Thus, a 1-9 or 2-8 season can get some of the teams in the playoffs while better teams with 4-6 or maybe even 5-5 or better records stay home. Imagine this scenario. 6A team that beat the other 6A teams in conference finishes 2-8, wins the next 5 games and finishes 7-8 with a Gold Ball. I can hear them now...."back when I played we won state", "But Dad,, you told me your team finished with only 7 wins".....
  4. I'll play Devil's Advocate and say you are right.... unless TN High beats Boone by 4 TD's....which people said DB would do to TN High....and which people said South and DB would do to Boone....and which the JC Press said SH would do to Boone....funny old world. Tennessee High beats Boone, Tennessee High beats South, Tennessee High wins Big 8 conference championship since they beat everybody in the conference! How's that for confidence? Tennessee High 31 (pure dominance) Boone 14 Possibility.... Nothing wrong with confidence. Gotta have it!! What's the weather for Friday Night? I disagree with someone who said that rain would give TH the advantage, I think rain will help Boone more than TH. I personally don't see TH winning by 17 points but it could happen. 3 to 7 point game is more likely IMO.
  5. Boone beats Tennessee High....Tennessee High Beats South.... Boone wins Big 8 championship since they beat both 6A teams in conference. You heard it here first. Boone 24 Tn High 17 ( Fundamentals ) Even if I am wrong this will probably be the best game all year to this point in the Big 8.
  6. At the risk of defending CAP1 here ( forgive me CoachT ), it really IS that time of year.....injuries in many positions, the flu, looking ahead.....WHO CARES.... Eleven young men on each side of the ball decide who wins every Friday Night regardless of who is in or out of the game...thats why you play the game instead of just saying "Oh well, TEAM A has the conference championship this year". A few things I know for sure: TN High "Spanked DB" ( and everybody else so far ) South spanked everyone but DB and the teams left on their schedule. So hopefully South and TN High will win out until week 10 and we can see who really is the best this year. And everybody else can munch on black feathers from Comps Long Black Train
  7. This is true. If Crockett wins they deserved it on that particular Friday Night. If Sumo can last 4 quarters they will have a chance, if CS can play near 90% he will have a field day. I am gonna go out on the proverbial limb and take Crockett 28-27 ( missed PAT ). As for South and Science Hill.... Science Hill will pass effectively and score but I don't think they will stop the South offense enough....South 35 SH 24. The rest..... Boone 35 Volunteer 14 TN High 52 Central 6 Hope it don't rain. Which game am I going to go to????? Probably South / Science Hill.
  8. Snyder will pass for 300+ against a weak pass defense. Sumo will get some yards but less than 100. Science Hill 42 Crockett 14
  9. DB will have some success with Sensabaugh, Steele, and Seabolt/Roop at QB running the ball. "Some" success, not "run all over" South..... DB passing will have to account for half the offense to compete. South will have to stop the "Watson Blitz" if they want to run an aerial show. He will bring everybody but the water boy on any given play. Will DB be passed over while blitzing or will it be a long night for South QBs?? I say South in a "closer than it should be" game. South 28 DB 14
  10. The women and children are probably safe.... the animals are always in jeopardy. TH VIKINGS 49 Greeneville 14 UG-UH-LEE
  11. If your bus smokes that bad, you probably won't make it to Kentucky!
  12. I hear PhatPhil is still available... /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> He probably would come to G Town for less than what McCurry was overpaid. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  13. Here's an interesting fact: Fun Fest gets more use of db's new turf than the football team!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> 6 games a year, 7 days of Fun Fest. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Not hating, all in fun. Thats funny I don't care who you are.
  14. I wasn't there but i heard it from someone who was ( Not a West or Boone fan aka "unbiased" ). They say it was a legitimate roughing the kicker on the FG attempt. He said Boone basically had West's number all night and then got flagged because they got their head stuck in their butt at the end. Let's hear it. I don't know, wasn't there. I personally would have liked to see Boone win since they were still the underdog. Maybe you guys will get to pay them back in the playoffs.
  15. From the looks of this board ( only the posters on here, not all South and DB fans ) I draw the following conclusions: 1. DB lives in the past 2. South lives in the future 3. DB teams get better with age while other teams lose their lustre I agree with the "DB arrogance" comments and I also know that South got annihilated the last time they played DB, 44-0 I think it was. That is no indication of what could or would happen this season if they were to play each other but the past record would show that until South consistently beats DB it is useless to comment on what might have been. As far as the Maryville comments, I think that the recent Maryville teams would still go 3 or 4 games into the 5A playoffs if they were classed as 5A. They are superior at 4A and they would most likely be "very good" at 5A and in my opinion would still have a gold ball or two in their trophy case. South knows this first hand and DB should since they have dropped a scrimmage or two to Maryville in the past few years. I really don't care if anyopne agrees or not, nor do I care if I am "Moron of the week" or whatever. This is only my opinion and it is no better or worse than any others I have read in the last few pages. However, it is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate. Keep it up, this is entertaining to say the least. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  16. Daddy sounds like he is a professor in Loser 101 and the kid is going to quit everytime things don't go his way because that is all he knows. Football can teach a lot of life lessons if we listen, watch, and learn. We learn to savor victory because it is usually hard earned. We learn from defeat and get better so it doesn't happen again. We learn when we face adversity we nail it head on, we don't duck it and run to an easier path. You can't take the path of least resistance in life. There are financial hardships, emotional hardships, family illnesses, and job difficulties. Then you raise your own family and start the circle all over again, without an instruction manual. You draw from the well of experience and try to do your best and pray that it all works out okay. You can't build a hedge around yourself by running away. If life throws you a curve, choke up and slap it to rightfield. By that I mean, take what comes your way and deal with it and always do your best. You won't come out a champion everytime but you will definitely be a winner.
  17. Greeneville proved South can be beat. Don't give me that "South wasn't on that night". They had just as much time to prepare as Greeneville. And if they can't get up for the Greeneville game they deserve to get beat. TN High needs to memorize that defensive plan of Greeneville's that night and add a twist or two themselves. I still think South is a 7 - 3 team without Phillips, but that is just it...they have Phillips. If TN High can knock the capootie out of Phillips every time he touches the ball, maybe they can hang with South. I don't think they have enough and will go down hard. South 21 + Phillips 21 = 42 Tn High 17 ( I hear Curt even sells popcorn at halftime ) /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  18. It's not just private schools recruiting, some public schools recruit as well. I have had "first -hand" knowledge and I KNOW FOR A FACT that at least one public high school recruits, or at least they recruited one player a few years back. It was kind of amusing watching it all play out actually. I do not know anything about Hoover's coach, but is he really proving anything? If you give the "average high school coach" the athletes that he gets every year then you should win state at least once in every three or four years. To me, it is not very different than that little league team a few years back, playing in a 12 year old league and had a 16 year old pitcher. Gimme a break. Some people have such pathetic lives. Look at it like this: If you ranked every athlete in the state by position, then give any high school coach the #10 ranked player by his position for every position on the field, he's gonna kick your butt 9 times out of 10. That is basically what Hoover High gets every year. Area schools do not get that many top athletes on one team in any given century, let alone year after year.
  19. Reminds me of a couple of other kids and parents I know. Little Johnny don't get to play and his mommy and daddy pout about it and take him and leave for another school, where he doesn't fit in and earns the reputation as a quitter. Then later on in life when he doesn't like something his boss tells him, he gets mad and quits his job. Then, he ends up with a divorce because he gets in a disagreement with his wife ( hopefully this happens before he has children of his own, as I am convinced that stupid people should not breed and raise young. ) Everytime he faces adversity in his life he turns away instead of taking it head on because he has been raised to believe that wanting something means it should always happen with or without the effort to earn it. I guess anytime life throws you a curve it is okay to stick your lower lip out , get redfaced and cry about it. His daddy needs to get a life and get over himself. I bet that I can tell you a little about the kid with having never seen him play. He is probably a fairly talented kid, possible potential at a small college scholarship, outside chance at a major college scholarship, but his daddy is convinced he is capable of winning the Heisman Trophy....is that close to being correct? Bottomline: Coach makes decision on playing time, period. Daddy don't know what may have happened in practice.....or does he know? I bet Daddy was at practice, too. Probably saw Junior run a big TD against 2nd team defense. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  20. No game to talk about this year IMO. The Hill 35 The vikes 13 Too much to overcome.
  21. Is there a Sasquatch loose in Hawkins County? I thought I seen one at WalMArt one time!!! Hey did anybody check out the female sasquatches on the front page of the paper Friday? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
