  1. Not traveling to Copper Basin. That is why I say I didn't like that game.
  2. Playing teams so far away is not idea, right now at our rural schools money is an important necessary for our sports programs. The Seq. one makes no sense to me. I have no clue why they won't play, great game a close. Having to travel to Chattanooga and Rockwood is fine enough. Polk and Tellico are good pick ups. I am not necessarily a fan of the Copper Basin game, but at least they will play. I remember having to play Alcoa, Rhea Co. and other good programs. Those were tough years. I think we need to focus on building a program and gaining some revenue before venturing out.
  3. No, just substate, cause we played them, and with about 4:00 to go and a 4 to 6 point lead, they held the ball. I agree good strategy if you can hit your foul shots.
  4. I agree, I like the minute for girls for the adjustment period. You could then do 45 for girls, and 35 for boys. This would offer time for a keeper to adjust to the clock.
  5. I am for a shot clock, however, I do understand the task of getting someone to man it. I agree, It is hard enough for some schools to get someone to keep the clock. It will be very difficult to do both. I am also ok with a 45 sec. boys clock and a 1:00 girls clock. This way you can use some strategy with a slow down game, but still are not holding the ball for 2:00 minutes or so. Macon Co. was very successful using the hold on tactic this year.
  6. Things are defiantly lined up for a run next year.
  7. Actually, this is the year I predicted McMinn Central would have a shot at going back to the Boro. They return all but one. They will have 4 seniors that will see significant playing time. 3 of those have played on varsity since freshman year, and the other was moved to varsity towards of the end of her freshman season. They return an all state freshman and another freshman that played significantly last year. They lost by 10 to the eventual state champions Macon County, in a great sub state game.
  8. I think they will be a solid program, and a tough out for teams. However, MCentral will be really good this upcoming season.
  9. They only lost one senior, correct?
  10. McMinn Central returns all but one next season. They were a tough out last year and actually were down to Macon by 3 in sub-state with 2:30 to play, eventually losing by 10. Meigs loses everyone, but will play tough, just don't see them contending next year. Tellico will be descent but will have to go through McMinn Central. Alcoa will also be a tough team in AA next season from the east.
  11. The call that is driving me crazy is where the offensive player drives in and defensive player has their hands straight up, offense makes contact and it is called a defensive foul.
  12. I didn't think of that, but still silly in my opinion. They could open it up to half capacity and still have plenty of room.
  13. I was saying last night how this did not make any sense to me. The whole thing is silly. We were packed in like sardines for Region and Sub-state games.
  14. I picked Grainger as my dark horse. Seen them play in Maryville Christmas tournament and felt they were gonna be a tough out for anyone. I feel like Westview will have to get out of that zone, Grainger will hurt them and can match up better with size than Meigs. I felt Meigs just couldn't find the normal offensive rhythm last night.
  15. So similar. We had our chances, just little things. Meigs and Macon would be a great matchup, I give post game advantage to Meigs, but #10 for Macon is an amazing player.
  16. We played Meigs and Macon, both teams had 5 senior players that started and played most of the game. What about other teams still in tournament? Are they senior heavy, young, etc. McMinn Central played 1 senior, 6 juniors, and 2 freshman consistently, and carried no sophmores.
  17. Gonna be a long drive. Maybe we can give Macon our best.
  18. They look athletic!!! We shall see how this plays out.
  19. Great assessment Buc, It was an upset last night. I don't expect Signal can handle Meigs pressure, but the can hurt them inside, just because they are so tall. Same scenario happened last year. I agree, I think we should end up playing for the Region Championship, if both 5-AA teams show up.
  20. Yes, Central not moving down, but looking at it in the point of view of all those others moving up.
  21. That is news to me. We will stay in AA, but Upperman, Macon, and others move up.
  22. Not at all. Brainard is very athletic and have a couple of good players, Signal is just big. Not pushovers.
  23. Central pressures the whole game. Get to the goal pretty well. Pretty good 8 to 9 players, but usually only plays 8 girls. They are tough when outside shot is falling. They turn teams over. One senior this year, so next year is looking promising.
