  1. I'm pretty sure Kwayu has a teaching license. He was head coach at Austin East & you can't be a head coach in Knox County without being a teacher in their system. Also, he left AE to go to North Carolina to coach with Gaddis a few years ago.
  2. I can't believe that every thread I read there are fans crying about uniforms & helmet decals. Listen I'm a traditionalist like anyone else, but if you aren't willing to change with the times you get left behind. If the players like it then thats all that matters because their the ones wearing them. As far as silver, thats just like putting white on a uniform. There are a lot of schools that don't have white listed as one of their school colors, but they still wear a white jersey or have white numbers. If you don't like it I suggest you call the University of Oregon & blame them. Times are changing, quit resisting.
  3. I love Oak Ridge football & its tradition, but those decals were very outdated. Decals on a helmet don't matter as long as you win. Great hire, I'm sure the Ridge will win a state championship in the coming years.
  4. The last time I remember a leave like this for a head coach in Knox Co. about 7 or 8 years ago...can't think of his name he was the hfc at Karns. different situation, but if memory serves me correct he went on leave, it lasted for some time & then they let him go. This doesn't look good for Powell football.
  5. Let the recruiting begin...lol Hey its D2 so I guess its legal
  6. Coalfield has had 3 staraight big seasons & they have a storied history. So I think they will be tough, I don't think they will be able to hang with the Irish for more than a half, but it will prepare them for the play-offs when they run into a South Pitt or some team like that. I see nothing wrong with the game, both teams are close & they both probably had difficult times filling a schedule.
  7. To say the community is not behind the program at Oak Ridge...WOW you are wrong on that one, but Indy got a great coach.
  8. I agree to a point, but you gotta do stuff to get kids out of the halls & on the field. Todays generation loves the oregon unis & changing it up. Sounds like a good move. Good luck up there in Blount County.
  9. Great hire a proven track record of success. Who cares how long he stays he will turn them into a winner while hes there.
  10. Everyone makes mistakes he just happened to get caught. Give the guy a break that has nothing to do with his future the past is the past.
  11. Really, so it is official? If so great hire, good guy, good coach & it always helps to bring back an alum. Good Luck to to the Govs & Coach Ridge in 2013.
  12. With all of the facilities & support from the Cookeville Community, I would have to disagree that a state championship will never be won there. If the right class came along at the right time with the right coach...it could happen.
  13. What is taking so long? This is a top tier job & they should have had enough interest to make a home run hire by now.
  14. I dont know I havent seen WB play in a few years, Im sure there is talent there. But double check your 2007 Julian stat I edited my post to include his record from that year.
  15. Parents & fans always think their teams are play-off material, they never think about how good their opponents might be. Also, 2007 was Julians best year, but it was 8-4. They were 7-3 in the regular season with losses to central 28-13, Bearden 42-10, maryville 38-30 & then a 2nd round play-off loss to Redbank 35-7.
  16. 91 you need to start coaching. You talk about how terrible the coaching at WB is in every post you put on here. Why dont you give it a try & see how tough it is. It is very easy to sit in the stands & say man that play didn't work coach sux! Or even man that play worked our coach is great. Either way the kids on the field have to execute the play.
  17. I was told Rankin already turned it down, so their 2nd choice will surely say yes.
  18. He did turn down Bearden & I think it was because Knox ounty couldn't match his pay in Oak Ridge as he still teaches at ORHS today.
  19. Oak Ridge is a storied program & Blankenship Field is a great venue. I love seeing those stands packed & fans sitting on the hill as well. I do think some upgrades could be done to update it, but I don't think the people at Oak Ridge should ever even consider moving it. Theres something to be said about playing on the same field as past great teams and players have played on.
  20. Hey, Im not a Greenback fan, but I know how a lot of folks in their small school communities are. If they have grown up in Greenback schools all their lives & their parents & grandparents attended & played football at Greenback then that is what they want to do. The fact that they are winning most of their games on most years is another reason to stay. Realistically, I am sure that most of their fans would agree that they couldn't compete with the Beardens & Farraguts of the world, but a school with 200 kids shouldn't be expected to, so that is an invalid argument.
  21. Greenback has a very strong tradition. No one would leave greenback to play at William Blount.
  22. So is Ridge the man or are they interviewing other candidates? If so when will they begin interview process?
