  1. Peppy, you who but past reason hunted, and no sooner had, Past reason hated, as a swallowed bait On purpose laid to make the taker mad; Mad in pursuit and in possession so, Had, having, and in quest to have, extreme, A bliss in proof, and prov'd, a very woe; Before, a joy propos'd; behind, a dream. All this the world well knows, yet none knows well To shun the heaven that leads men to he11.
  2. Ah, the mock encomium that offers me ironic praise, one who by orthodox propriety should instead receive naught but invective! Dearest peppy, I must be seen to remonstrate at such paradoxical approbation. Alas! My thoughts and my discourse as madmen's are, At random from the truth vainly expressed; For I have sworn thee fair, and thought thee bright, Who are as maleficent as perdition, as base as the barrow wight.
  3. I'm a moron but even I can figure out he wasn't talking about cheating.
  4. It never ceases to amaze at how many slights one can find to besmirch the eminently illustrious Rebels if one looks with a dyspeptically microscopic eye.
  5. Has Powell scrimmaged anybody yet? What changes hath the new coaching staff wrought with the O and D? Though I would guess not too many changes to the offense given Powell's stability at QB and RB. And why is everyone from 3AAA, with the notable exception of OR fans, so quiet?
  6. I went to a UT strength and conditioning clinic a few years ago. High school coaches from all around the Southeast attended. I recall seeing several there from Byrnes in South Carolina. Amongst all the college coaches and trainers from UT that gave presentations there was only one high school trainer, and he came from Maryville HS. He showed film about what Maryville did.... and you're right, especially for that time (around 2005), they were light years ahead of any high school I was familiar with.
  7. If the outcome of the game doesn't matter, then why did Whitehaven show up? Why were they excited when they won? Of course it matters, and of course there are always more weighty matters against which you can juxtapose a mere game. But the fact remains that a call was made that had no basis in fact. WHATSOEVER. Moreover, but for the call, we do know that MHS scored a two point conversion. We do know that, but for the call, this conversion puts them ahead. And we do know that Whitehaven didn't score again until after regulation. That's what we do know.
  8. The Maryville posters must never frequent the fever swamps of the Sentinel comments sections. Lame brained leftists there mostly who mistakenly believe they're God's gift to intelligence and likely never graced a field, court or any other playing surface in high school or anywhere else. With that said, I wish the Maryville posters on here who fancy themselves armchair psychologists would get over their victim hangups, thinking, as they do, that it's their team's winning ways that have inexorably scarred the minds of fans of other teams who haven't beaten the Rebels. In any human endeavor from politics to business to sports or anything else you can name there are always those who love to see failure by those who have had success. One poster at the Sentinel site even admitted as much by saying he was experiencing schadenfreude. There are others, such as myself, who can admire the success of a team like Maryville because of how it's achieved through the coaching, the disciplined play, the facilities, the unified community and all the other component parts, regardless of whether or not my team can or has ever beaten the Rebels.
  9. MHS posters, it seems that your magnanimity is not reciprocated.
  10. The home and aways are only set for four years at a time. Whenever the TSSAA redistricts, as it did this year, they're all redone.
  11. Okay, with my disclaimer above, here you go: 1. Webb (Webb's been tested -- ECS can't stop both Blance and Kelly). 2. Ensworth 3. Gordonsville 4. CAK (a 3A machine) 5. Beech (Hurd is the difference) 6. FCS 7. Covington (would like to pick Fulton but Covington seems awfully strong) 8. Maryville (MHS is a bit banged up, so I think this one is really a toss-up).
  12. Being as I'm from the Richie Cunningham-esque part of the state, I really don't know enough about some of the teams to pick them all, so a number of them would just be a wild-####ed guess. I do know about Milan and CAK though, and that pick of Milan over CAK was a bold one indeed!
  13. Science Hill should be tough and a very good test. CAK will be on a totally different level from what they've been the last couple of years. I don't see them giving Powell that much trouble next year. Virtually their entire offensive line will be gone, not to mention High, Howell, Smith, Rathbone, Murchison and other skill players. Bradley is a very good coach but he's not a miracle worker.
  14. LOL. The progeny of Yakub have a good sense of humor.
  15. I suppose that's why you took something that wasn't said or even implied as some kind of slight. The one what comes out of the dog fight hollerin' is the one that done been hit, and you came out hollerin' first.
  16. Powell, come on, you really need to play better competition. YOUR DISTRICT IS JUST TOO WEAK!!
  17. Let me be the first to congratulate you on your arrogance. Crow baby!
  18. What's up with it? Wish I was there. Powell is the real deal.
  19. I see the kitchen staff whipping up some nice crow casserole.
