  1. Right or better... Where do we want to focus our efforts? C’mon guys. I’m sure none of you have ever been wrong before. Let’s get the better train going.
  2. Thanks for the vote of confidence and kind words. I absolutely enjoy the sport. However right now I still just want to coach. In my opinion, this position should be filled by someone who doesn't have to juggle time coaching and overseeing the state organization. The kids deserve it. Maybe one day... good Lord and wife willing.
  3. Doug Mays. He’s almost centrally located in the state. Very important when it comes to a chairperson being accessible. Just retired from coaching and said he would like to stay active in the sport. Also very important in that he doesn’t have a program he’s attached to.
  4. Purple wrestler, introduce yourself... Things will be so much easier to discuss when we're all honest here. By the way, my name is Eric. I'm sure with my screen name and signature line it isn't hard to figure out the rest. Lots of deception is what many would refer to as toxic.
  5. Board of directors, or board of directed? A non-disclosure agreement for kids wrestling... This gets more laughable by the day.
  6. And the AAU Junior Olympic Games are headed to the Southeast... Looks like the off-season just got a little longer for a lot more kids. This is awesome.
  7. Huh, last year it was voted on a wrestler must attend SER... This year “a regional tournament “. Why the change after all the we have to wrestle our regional tournament? Three years, three different sets of rules. Call it what you want but I say it’s bull$h1t.
  8. Just a reminder for those in the mid-State. As an added benefit we are hosting an open workout from 4-5:30. Come get a sweat in before the meeting.
  9. Parent meeting Thursday, March 7 at 6pm. Lane Agri-Park, in the barn located at 315 John R Rice Boulevard. Next year when winter asks... I spent my summer getting better.
  10. The Dan Dennis effect... Boykin with the takedown, gut, gut, gut, gut. Gets another one just to let him know he could. Northwestern is really high on the Davison kid. Nice win. Dudley's no slouch.. but Scottie beats him next time. Boykin put that work in today.
  11. Congrats to Cody. Tip of the hat to his coach at Capstone. Maybe one day Chittum will consider Carver Hawkeye Arena.
  12. Merry Christmas to you all. Thanks Coach Hamblin.

    AAA 182

They are polls... Without them we have no discussion. Kind of like seeds.
  14. Happy Turkey Day. Safe travels to those of you who are out and about.
  15. Can we please get this worked out?! The argument that we aren't able to use college rules for this is because of safety and mat size is absurd. I can take an opponent down with toes in bounds but somehow having them on their back without a knee touching suddenly becomes unsafe.
  16. That's a nice group of teams. Sure wish we could...
  17. Fairly certain only one spot at the end of the season matters... Care to share your top ten?
  18. My suggestion about inviting Medlin down was geared toward to getting coaches in the state together with him to hear what Illinois did to garner the success it's had in recent years. There was nothing ill intended by thinking we might be able to create a road map for our state. If it came across that way my apologies.
  19. Does anyone have information on upcoming TN USAW events? Are there any meetings planned to discuss what the next year has in-store, or lessons learned from the last one... It would be awesome if we could find a way to get a bunch of coaches together. Maybe would could even get someone like Bryan Medlin down. It'd be cool to have him share what Illinois has done to be so successful as of late.
  20. What else are the kids going to do to prepare for Fargo during the dead period, not 4th of July week? If you're going to be good in this sport you don't wait for opportunity, you make it.

    Fargo Camp

Just curious if we were able to get a few clinicians together to run a week long training camp prior to Fargo how many would be interested? It wouldn't be exclusive to Fargo competitors, just targeted towards preparing kids for competing at that level. The biggest reason I've been given for kids not traveling to Fargo is preparedness. This would be a step in the direction of overcoming that hurdle. Again, just curious.
  22. Heck of a group to be mentioned amongst. Congrats.
  23. Thought Flynn was a Maryland guy now? I was always under the impression that spots won at regions just increased the number of potential participants from that state. Seeing as how we don't use all of our allocations not sure it matters. Regardless, congrats the aforementioned... Good to see guys having success. Really like their corner man. #GOHAWKS
  24. To echo Sells, great work EVERYONE... Thank you cbg. I am obviously biased but it appears that the Ironman is indeed synonymous with Blackman. Knowing there were proms and ACT's this weekend, along with wrestlers playing their second or third sport of the year, our numbers were awesome. Most of them probably don't read the boards but I want to recognize the ladies behind the scenes that make this event not only successful, but possible. YOU ALL ARE AMAZING. Shout out to Georgia, Kentucky, Alabama, and Virginia.. we enjoyed having you. Special thanks to John Salter for making sure every kid was able to wrestle, even though it meant starting late. We know that's not how you roll! To the TWF, 32 Ironman winners.. kudos. And finally, the refs. You all did a great job. No one will ever be happy... Thanks for stepping up! See you all next year!!!
