  1. I had always thought it would be a done deal that Coach Greene would get the job also when/if Dex ever stepped down. I have heard a few different things concerning him as to him being an assistant or not but will not go further than to say i was told personally by a very reliable source he would still assist. As for Coach Bodenhammer. He took over the horribly underachieving Covington team four years ago after they fired Halford and lost all the talent. He came from a school in Nashville where he had been an assistant. He did a great job and only left to be closer to his daughter who lives in nashville... i was told by both he and the AD at covington it was his decision... nothing to do with certification issues. Once you are have a waiver and it runs out you cant just go to another school and it gets reset! Fact is this... he runs pretty much the exact same style as Coach WIlliams and is hard and fair on the players just like Williams. A few minor detail (specific set plays and such) may change but you will get pretty much the same result. I know one other big detail thats been discussed here as well but will not mention it... lets just say a few of you are dead wrong as to what you think is going to happen.
  2. dont underestimate Haywood. They have a lot of talent a few couple of sophomores that will be future d1 players. only problem is whether or not they can leave all the drama outside the gym, come together and work hard. They could easily be the second best team in the district behind GC talent wise. All the other intangibles is where they will be exposed.... but like i said... have POTENTIAL!
  3. the fact is you wont be able to produce the volume of incredible athletes out of the MUCH larger metropolitan areas of Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, San Antonio, and others. TN has good players but not on the level numbers wise TX will have.
  4. bolivar and JCM will be the only real comp in thier district. Fayette Ware may be stronger in a few years and able to be a threat. Haywood in another year or two will be back to thier dominant ways as far as the other side of the region goes but it will pretty much be the Liberty/ Bolivar show for that region for the next few years.
  5. yup, been knowing this was comming for a while now pretty much but it wasnt a 100% sure thing. I also know who it is with the inside track to the job. But don't fear, I understand Dex will "assist" as a volunteer this year to ease the transition. Don't expect much of a let down.
  6. i didnt realize bret cambell wasnt the UTM coach anymore. when and why did that happen?
  7. watch out for Haywoods girls. A couple of really athletic and talented players and the entire team will be athletic. Should pull out 4th behind the big three with a possiblity of upsetting one (NOT GC)
  8. lets not get too wild... Butler is no doubt D1 OVC material, but although they are great high school players I"m not sure the two post girls would be what you would want to recruit to build/rebuild a D1 program around. I personally feel they are more suited to the Freed, Bethel, etc track. Now if he could get Fussel and Butler and maybe Reichis plus go into MEMPHIS and get a few of those ungodly athletic, tall girls that are one or two good years of great coaching away from being all-americans you got something!!!!
  9. the assistant from Haywood Jason Winfrey got the boys Fayette Ware job!!!!!!!!! and blaine mahaffey from Ripley got the D-burg job from what i'm told
  10. lady......... YOU'RE NUTS!!!!!!!!! Murfreesboro?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! hahahaha... OC boys have been down for a loooong time now and outside of Gilliam they dont have any real good players.... yeah the one kid that is a pure spot up shooter, but not an overall great player. Boucher was ok... average. I dont recall seeing a 6'8" kid at OC in years and even so..... height doesnt mean you can play!!! Coach Kail does a good job! MURFREESBORO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Can you believe she said they should have gone to Murfreesboro! lololol. I'd hate to see what you have to say about them after this upcoming season.... lost a lot to graduation... wont be pretty if you ask me... but you probably think they should beat Oak Hill and be top 10 nationally huh? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  11. certianly this post is a joke! negotiations.... with a ymca coach... online university... hahahaah... yeah, good luck with that. they'd have better luck getting "that former coach that left things in ruin" back. lol
  12. i dont know the guy and i have no dog in the fight but two things are clear: 1. he is COACHING... at one point he points out three girls to go sub into the game (you clearly see him point in three motions while saying something then three girls get up to check in. 2. He was not in the stands... he was 3 feet behind the bench in a chair just like the ones used as the bench with nobody else around that could be considered part of the crowd.... cant call that the stands.
  13. what in the world is going on over there? three coaches in three years? wow...
  14. DANG... i opened up a can of worms.... its like a "bidding war" all of a sudden. I was just wondering would she follow Coach Suiter if they had a really strong relationship as plyer & coach AND as an added benifit b/c UC is right next door and in an easier district (state champs or not they have a better chance of winning a district or POSSIBLE region than they would at OC nxt year)... now we got people trying to "place" her all over West TN. HAHAHAHAH Remember folks... she has been spotted working out at Dyer Co. and Mc Cord is now the girls coach.... HAHAHAHAHAHAAH.... sorry, couldnt resist... This should get the Choctaw faithful rilled up. I am just poking fun now.... nobody take me seriuos and start this whole recruiting stuff again!!!!!!!!
  15. in this day and age.... this climate of win at all cost... seems like most people are the least bit concerned about loyaties and/or traditions.... just look how many kids we have had the past few year transfer schools for purley SPORTS reasons just in the 13AA (boys and girls).
  16. Wonder why the move? Obviously it'll be easier to win at UC in single A than at OC in double with that tough district. Anybody think Fussel will transfer to try and win a state in A b/c we all know the likelyness of that happening at OC this year is slim.
  17. why in the world would you NOT want to play in a game like this? no pressure, just get to play against the best in an exciting atmosphere and have fun.
  18. what do you mean is this a joke? those are the best seniors around. I will say the South should dominate talent wise anyway.
  19. must be nice to be able to get one transfer after another. why is it that memphis city seems to be above TSSAA when it comes to this policy.... just another example of how the TSSAA is spineless and/or currupt!!!!!!!
  20. no... she is the post AT OC that is FROM GC.... you had it backwards! LOL.... Reedy is the one i'm talking about
  21. I dont want to stir or (RE-stir) up any rumours or anything... JUST SPEAKING IN HYPOTHETICALS since you brougt up the " they could beat a lot of college teams." Do you think if Coach Mc Millan was to get a head job at oh lets say a local, NW tennessee mid-major program that he would be able to recruit all these girls successfully? I feel like the two posts probably arent D1 material... good Freed, or Lambuth, or Union caliber ( I do understand that these schools would beat UTM as things stand now,but talking about building the future) and then the top two players may be able to play at a higher level but if anyone could get them to all join together it'd be Kevin. Coach Campbell at Union would be hurting then I'm sure! lol
  22. Look, we all know that when there are two really good players the one that is able to LEAD their team to a championship USUALLY gets MVP or Player of the Year or whatever.... if the award had been decided on before regionals Fussell may have won it. Thats just the human nature of the whole thing.... its like that at every level in every sport (amature, college, pro). Side note: Do you people realize that you could just about make an all state starting five out of 13aa next year. PG: Butler SG: Reichis (sorry about spelling) F: Fussel PF: Griffin C: the post for GC from OC.... cant think of the name for some reason
  23. two very good choices! shouldnt really be a surprise to anyone.... other than maybe Fussell from Obion, but heather was the heart and soul of the undefeated state champs so thats what gets her the title!
  24. Rudesill at Bolivar manages to pull it off pretty well. The fact is howerver that as much film watching and studying of other teams as McCord does (which is part of what makes him so successfull.... always well prepared) he will only have so much time to do that now b/c he will have to be doing it for two teams (only so much time in a day). This means either some of the time and energy usually 100% directed towards the boys program must now be diverted. Secondly, I dont think that the girls will be doing much of the same types of things as the boys b/c they dont have the same athletes (maybe two - four) 1-10 to do the whole run and gun nonstop! All that being said, I've been wrong b/f and could very easily be wrong again.
  25. I don't know if I agree with "run the district" bc even tho we are losing just a few players they were three of our main players in Battle, Clark, and Pickens... I believe Pickens and Battle were the top two scorers for the team unless Comage out scored one of them.... either way you get my point. I do feel Haywood will be at the top next year (no lower than 2nd), but it would be b/c the district will be as down next year as it probably has been for a while. A lot of rebuilding going on and Haywood will have more size and atleticism than anyone else in the district and Coach Jones will have more time to work with the boys over the summer. I will definately say this though... when the current 7th/8th graders get to be Jrs and Srs somebody will be getting BLOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNN OUUUUUTTTTTTTTTT!!!! Coach Jones will have Haywood back where that historicly dominant rural west tn team belongs.
