Stang50, I must apologize. I don't live in West Tennessee anymore and I don't know what I am talking about most of the time. However, I don't believe the UC Tornadoes will resemble the Bruceton Tiger this year. Good luck to both teams.

The only difference between Huntington and Dresden is WALMART. Having said that, Dresden has a CVS pharmacy.

They did'nt play Bruceton those first 2 Friday nights.

Who's worried abount Counce? I'm worried abount me trying to avoid going to jail because I took those horn blowers and their surrounding fans to the wood shed.

HC will make a run this year. Whether they will it all this year or next year depends on what everyone else has. The 2 years after that................ they will be a favorite. The 8th(Inman) and 9th grades are loaded with a pretty good 10th grade class. Having said all of that......this year and next year are still to be determined. The coaches will have to coach them up to have a shot at winning everything this year and next. But, they could have a shot, especially next year. I just wish all the fans would shut-up and stay off coach Counce. They are 2 - 1. Could be 3 - 0 if the kids would hold on to the ball.

This UC team will improve a great deal if they avoid injuries. If coach Bowling can keep them focused, they have an opportunity to go deep into the playoffs.

He was not the best athlete last year or the year before. He is a pretty good athlete. If you guys knew the dad, you would would have a much better understanding. He will cost this kid big time, in regards to reputation and future opportunities. For the kids sake, I hope he can find a place to appease his dad. I doubt it, unless he goes to Gleason, Greenfield, etc. He may be the big dog at one of those schools.

If he quits and you think Coach Counce is going to beg him to stay, you don't know James Counce. If Ray were to quit, and I hope he does not, HC will still win many games and go at least 2 or 3 rounds into the playoffs. This team is very talented but young. By the end of the season, everyone will see a different HC team than they have seen in the last 2 weeks. While the Ray kid is a very good athlete, he may or may not be the best player to play QB at this time. The QB has to be able to direct the team and get people into the right position. Unless you are at every practice as a coach, you have no way to determine who should be and who should not be on the field. These coaches are doing a great job, and Liberty would not want any of these boys in a few weeks.

1 - 9. Possibly, maybe, 2 - 8. Only possible wins are Red Boiling Springs and Kings Academy. If they are really lucky the will beat Oakdale and go 3 - 8.

It'll be hard to replace Josh Nicks at FB. He was a great athlete and wasn't afraid to deliver a hit. They also lost Mr. Football line candidate, Ronnie Fair. That's two HUGE losses off of last years team. I love Union City's veer offense, but I'm not sure if they'll make it back to the 'boro this year. My guess is, and that is all it is, that a sophomore named Hyde will be the fullback for UC. The Fair kid could also play the position in the same style that Nicks played. It will be interesting. Fair as the FB and Hyde as one of the wings would be pretty good.

Hey "Old Pirate", I was headed to Florida the other day and I was wondering what South Pitt looks like on the 4th with all those fireworks stores. I hope you guys get the fumble issues worked out. I hear that the bunch from UC has a little left in the ammo bag and going back to the big game is a possibility for them. I wish you both good luck as I would like to see a rematch. Last year was a barn burner.

Old Pirate says you fellers that continue to claim SP don't play smash mouth football need to stay off the juice. Now, the Pirates were against a bigger team that played ball control and was able to pull off a huge win. OP says those teams that intentionly kick out of bounds on kickoffs should be flagged jest like intentionally grounding a pass to avoid disasterous play on them. OP says AGAIN.........................the Pirates make simple plays then another GOLD ball would be sitting in the SP trophy case. Yous got to make the simple passes and kicks. Don't believe OP, jest ask the Pirates from EC. Routine plays such as receptions, kicks and tackles will kill you upon a team's failure to get-er done. Recon the Pirates don't mind the Veer, so this OP says bring it. Jest got to make plays regardless. OP, you got it right in your last statement. "The good teams make plays regardless." UC made them and SP did not. As for speed, SP had the best team speed, but they had no one that could match #27 from UC. (Based on observations from the championship game.) Although I am not from SP or US, I think they would split if they played 10 times. From reading the posts, the UC fans will probably agree and the SP fans will disagree. Just an unbiased observation.

What coach do you have in mind that could have tackled #27 for UC??

I was going to post the same thing about the players going off the field but some might deem that classless.....That's what happens though...Spot on with that comment... I had/have alot of respect for the South Pittsburg program...They got it going on over there...I have been on these boards since 2003 and had never seen such a lack of respect from a fanbase in this type of game as some SPitt people had for Union City...Most got into the habit of calling Union City "Union"..Wouldn't even say the right name...That's a TOTAL lack of respect for an opponent...I'm sure that to some extent the coaching staff and players from SPitt had some of the same feelings about Union City this week..I doubt they do now... How would you feel if you were SP and just lost the state title to a "Basketball School"?

That's never been a problem in the past. The real problem with this team at times this year as been poor execution on offense. Old Pirate says way too many misques. Misques often increase when you are tired. Something, however, tells me SP will be back before too long.

I told a SP poster back on the UC/WC thread that it would not be a Grace team coming to Cookeville. All I read on this thread was posts about 50-0 SP, running clocks, speed kills, and UC was a basketball school. There were two good teams on that field today and the best team won regardless of what powerp and others may say. I coached for 21 years and I know that the best athletes do not always make the best TEAM. By the way, if those two teams could play 4 more times, UC would win some of those. I saw several SP players have to leave the field in the second half. For those that don't know or have never played a physically superior team, that usually comes from being tired and frustrated. Congratulations to UC and hold your heads up SP, at least the superior TEAM today won. Old Pirate, you and a handful of other posters from SP were classy this week and gracious in defeat. I look forward to reading your thoughts next year. UC, you guys were not your usual boastful selves this week. Congtats again.

And after all of that, it came down to a Spanish exchange student soccer player to kick a FG with 6 seconds on the clock. UC played a great game and won it. However, a 2 pt game at the buzzer isn't exactly and azz-kicking. I did not say it was an azz kicking. SP did not win and they could not stop the run. It doesn't matter how UC won, the bottom line is that they are state champs...not SP. It may have only been 31-29, but if you ask those boys on defense for SP, they would tell you it felt like an azz-kicking.

Well Wayne Co. and Union City fans, game time nears. A lot of smack talk from both teams and their fans. Unfortunatley for WC, the team from UC can back it up. I don't think it will even be close. But, who knows. I doubt that WC has called UC to forfeit. Good luck to both teams and hoping for an injury free game.

Always go with your gut. I am not from UC, but they will win and probably win big. They are healthy and the offense is simple on paper but stopping what they do on a football field is a completely different matter. Seems like UC had a 3 or 4 loss team a few years ago (4 or 5) and handed an undefeated JB's team a 3 or 4 td loss. They proceded to get spanked by TC that year at the 'boro. SP may beat this team, but it will not be the debacle it was that year.

Butchie, are you sober? This is about as fired up as I have seen you in a while. You usually tell it like it is, but I am afraid you are spouting out a tall order this week. Just the same, Good luck Rebs.
