  1. Canon has great cameras, and they are what most of the pros use. You can get a good camera between $500 - $1,000. The lens is what takes your money, and the lens is very important. What Coach T has is the way to go. I have something very similar, and it will get your started. Talk to as many people as possible who shoot sports with cameras before you make a purchase. And go to the high end stores to window shop and pick up information.
  2. It is absolutely lost money. Anyone who has stocks can declare the loss, and purchase similar stocks. Then in 30 days, sell the stock just purchased, and purchase back the original stock -- if you want to hang onto that stock. The benefit is that you will have declared a real loss to apply toward taxes. Psychologically, we don't want to admit that we have lost money when the stock goes down 30% - 40%. Go sell the present stock. It will be worth less than it was a few months ago. Imagine if you purchased stock earlier this year, and lost 30% - 40%. You would be below your investment price.
  3. Do you know anyone who has not lost money in the stocks, pensions, etc.?
  4. Dude, Why keep beating a dead horse? South has had several outstanding seasons. Greeneville had an oustanding season. South's record speaks for itself. Stop messing with it, and confusing everything. Lose with class and let it be. Congratulations to Greeneville for a great season and reaching the semi-finals! I am confident you will keep this tradition going for many seasons to come.
  5. Hillsboro has never been to Maryville. Don't let the facts get in the way of you impertinent posts!
  6. Congratulations to both teams! South doesn't feel like it was a great game, but Greeneville had a lot to do with that. Greeneville showed that they have reached a higher level, and the win should be an affirmation of everything Greeneville Football has been doing. Seeing is believing! Greeneville has reaped the benefit of hard work. The coaches and players have seen most of their goals come true this year. They have done what good teams do over a course of a season, they have gotten better. South has every reason to be proud of their accomplishments, and the seniors should be especially proud of what they have done for the program. When everyone looks back on this senior class, they will remember a hard-working group of players who responded to good coaching. The coaches have done an outstanding job. Their record speaks for itself. Both Greeneville and South should have mutual respect for each other, and the series will continue with perhaps a higher level of intensity next year. It's all good, and both teams have excelled. To all the Greeneville players and coaches, BEAT MARYVILLE!
  7. Let the kid work it out with his coach and team. Hope he suits up and plays.
  8. Teh coaches have done an oustanding job. Why don't you tell us what you do so we can evaluate you?
  9. Purchased gigawire at Radio Shack this weekend. Helped, but still not the complete solution. Coach T, I almost never go to Wal Mart. Transferring documents is easy. Transferring programs is another matter. It takes time to do all this stuff, which is part of the deal of working on a computer. Hope the new computer lasts forever. BTW, Coacht.com is super fast on new computer.
  10. I missed how becoming a humble and magnanimous sport only happens if Obama wins. How about a one-year hiatus if McCain wins?
  11. I have voted, and I wonder how all the early voters will affect this crazy polls? Yes, I know early voting helped Obama in the primaries, but not sure that is the case now. BTW, this is the craziest thread I have seen on the election. If Obama wins by those electoral numbers, I will buy ELA the dinner of his choice at any restaurant in Tennessee.
  12. Is there an easy way to transfer programs, files, photos, music, etc. from the old computer to the new one? My hope was that this day would never come, but that is very naive, I guess. Almost four years ago to the date, I purchased a new computer. Hated doing all the link work then, and thought I could avoid it in the future. The future is now. I downloaded a program, Laplink, PC Mover. Not sure that I can use the USB cables that I have to do the transfer. Had to go with Vista from XP. Wanted to go with an Apple, but didn't want to increase my transfer learning curve and time spent doing this stuff. I have spent hours trying to figure it all out, and it is simple -- if you know what you're doing. I don't, but am learning. Will forget what I learn in four years.... Any suggestions? Will this be easier in another 3-4 years?
  13. Funny! True Riverdale supporters (including myself) will always be there and wanting nothing but the best for each one of you! For the last 3 years you have had amazing talent but for some reason they have not been able to pull it out and show it in games.
  14. The kid from Midway is getting more votes! /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />
  15. As Dandy said, McCain did not evade his association with Liddy. Obama has a hard time stating what is true about his past and beliefs. He wants to present himself in a different light so that he gets more votes. Obama has not distinguished himself as a man who speaks clearly. There is no clearer example of this evasion of the truth than the word dance he did during the last debate regarding abortion. If you are going to condemn Obama for associating with a man who serves as a member of the same faculty and as a person who serves on the same board, then you must condemn every Republican member of Congress who has spoken as a guest on the G. Gordan Liddy radio show and all those who call him friend
  16. So do you think Obama has been honest about his association with Ayers? Or is your defense of Ayers imply that it is okay to associate with him? Protesters such as Ayers led to the end of the Vietnam war?
  17. Bill Ayers' booking photo taken in 1968 by the Chicago Police Dept. Ayers was asked in a January 2004 interview, "How do you feel about what you did? Would you do it again under similar circumstances?" He replied:[25] "I've thought about this a lot. Being almost 60, it's impossible to not have lots and lots of regrets about lots and lots of things, but the question of did we do something that was horrendous, awful? ... I don't think so. I think what we did was to respond to a situation that was unconscionable." On September 9, 2008, journalist Jake Tapper reported on the comic strip in Bill Ayers's blog explaining the soundbite: "The one thing I don't regret is opposing the war in Vietnam with every ounce of my being.... When I say, 'We didn't do enough,' a lot of people rush to think, 'That must mean, "We didn't bomb enough sugar."' But that's not the point at all. It's not a tactical statement, it's an obvious political and ethical statement. In this context, 'we' means 'everyone.'"[26][27] Ayers writes: Although the bomb that rocked the Pentagon was itsy-bitsy - weighing close to two pounds - it caused 'tens of thousands of dollars' of damage. The operation cost under $500, and no one was killed or even hurt.[14] While underground, he and fellow member Bernardine Dohrn married, and the two remained fugitives together, changing identities, jobs and locations. By 1976 or 1977, with federal charges against both fugitives dropped due to prosecutorial misconduct (see COINTELPRO), Ayers was ready to turn himself in to authorities, but Dohrn remained reluctant until after she gave birth to two sons, one born in 1977, the other in 1980. "He was sweet and patient, as he always is, to let me come to my senses on my own", she later said.[3] The couple turned themselves in to authorities in 1980. Ayers and Dohrn later became legal guardians to the son of former Weathermen David Gilbert and Kathy Boudin after the boy's parents were convicted and sent to prison for their part in the Brinks Robbery of 1981.[15] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Ayers
  18. Powell has flipped on everyone he has served, including the Republican party. It is only a matter of time till he flips on Obama, which will happen quickly if Obama loses.
  19. ELA, are you saying Ayers is a good guy or harmless? Do you believe Obama has been honest about his association with Ayers? Whether you realize it or not, that is the real issue you have raised in this thread. McCain, a fighter pilot, spoke clearly about his association with Liddy and Liddy's son, who is a congressman. He also said that his time spent with anyone is a matter of public record, and that he is being honest about it. My suspicion is that you are trying to deflect the Obama - Ayers association by shifting the focus to McCain - Liddy. This will only score points to people like you in the Obama camp and cause others to question your motives. So why do it?
  20. This Sports Illustrated article from 1989 shows how true-to-life the film is. A powerful article about a tremendous football player and human being. Jim Brown's comments are worth the read. http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vau...757/1/index.htm
  21. Found this in Sports Illustrated's The Vault: Explosive moment at Dallas became most headlined??”and most controversial??”event at any bowl game. Threatened battle between Syracuse Tackle John Brown, who said a Texas player four times called him a "dirty ######," and Longhorn Larry Stephens (84) was averted when the two rival coaches piled into middle of scuffle, herded players toward their own lines. Whether or not there was name-calling, the Cotton Bowl undoubtedly produced day's most aggressive tackles and blocks. http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vau...34397/index.htm FOOTBALL??”Some 375,000 fans (and millions watching on television) kicked off New Year with the Bowl games (see page 55). In Cotton Bowl, unbeaten Syracuse did the expected, roped Longhorns of Texas University for 23-14 victory, in first two minutes scored on longest pass play in major bowl history, 87 yards. In Rose Bowl, Washington Huskies ran down Wisconsin Badgers in one of biggest upsets in 46 years of Rose Bowl play, snapped out 44-8 triumph. In Sugar Bowl, Mississippi held LSU's Billy Cannon to eight yards in six tries, shut out Tigers 21-0. In Orange Bowl, the passing attack of Georgia carried the day for 14-0 over an otherwise equal Missouri. In Gator Bowl, Arkansas All-America halfback Jim Mooty took the sting out of Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets when he scooted 19 yards in third quarter to break up 7-7 tie for 14-7 victory. In all bowl games, including Bluebonnet and Liberty Bowl a week earlier, competing colleges made estimated $2,410,000. http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vau...34390/index.htm
  22. Watching Powell now on Meet the Press. Powell claims that he tried to convince the president to deal with Iraq diplomatically, but then supported going to war because he thought the evidence was there. "Three months before my speech, Congress voiced that we should go to war." Powell, "Without WMD there would not have been a war."
